How I got diagnosed with AS

In 2005 I wonder what was different about me. So I read up about Autism and AS.My Dep. of Rehabilitation counselor sent me to a neuropsychologist in 2006. When I got my diagnosis I was pleased.

When my father passed in 2009 I went to Social Security in 2010. I asked for SSDI it took 2 years before I got benefits which is in 2014 $1474.Initially the Federal government didn't want to pay they want to see if you are really serious. After my 1st rejection letter I got a lawyer and all the evidence pointing to Autism before the age of 22. I am receiving his SS under Retirement, Survivors, And Disability Insurance also receive Medicare. Initially the Federal government. So you can fight City Hall. :twisted:

I am curious about how you get the amount you do; I had been on SSI at 19 and when my mother had to go on SS in 2003 mine got switched to SSDI yet I only receive half that not counting the EBT card. I probably shouldn't complain though since the only medicines I pay for are OTC. At any rate welcome to the club and stay tuned; I understand the site will be getting a facelift soon

I was in a car accident when I was six that would be in 1970.I couldn't get SSI unless I had less than 2K in the bank. I got a cash settlement. I refuse to lose control of any monies I receive so I decided to get SSDI from my father. It was Adult Disabled children I think.

I had Regional center who took my case in 2009 and Associated comprehensive Technologies or ACT help me get the benefits.

When I went to the SS office they were surprised at amount I could get. I know other individuals who get between $600-$800 in SSI benefits so I know what was expected.My dad was probably being taxed at the full amount. He was a doctor and in a field of specialized medicine.

So I am getting his SS and the medicare card has his SS number. Perfectly legal.
Listen: I am not trying to come off as a jerk. These were my circumstance so I took what I could legally get.

BTW when I told my mom and the director of ACT how much I was receiving they complained that was more than what they were receiving from SS.
