hi everyone, I'm happy today because i had my Psychologist appointment finally, the last time i saw him was in march, so im glad we could discuss and get some things done

first of all, the stupid school is FINALLY taking my ASD seriously, after 12 years, they FINALLY realize i need actual help, so they said they would get in contact with my Psychologist and my Psychologist said they would get ahold of them, So YAY! AFTER 12 YEARS OF STRESS, FRUSTRATION AND CONFUSION THEY WILL FINALLY UNDERSTAND! now i know this wont fix anything, but its a start.

second, i found out that my ASD has been confirmed for the 3rd time, it turns out my psychologist didn't diagnose me like i thought he did, i actually got a full out assessment at the hospital by a Psychologist and a Psychiatrist and they just passed the diagnoses onto my current psychologist and re-assessed me for confirmation. Now i know it sounds weird that i didn't know they were assessing me but no one told me it was an assessment. This is kinda a problem though because i got that diagnoses in 2012, since then, the diagnoses of Aspergers has been taken off the DSM, so i may need to get re-assessed before i get any help from the school, although, PDD-NOS has also been taken off and my friend still receives help. IDK

finally, i need some help from you guys, you see ive been overloading at school, so i asked my psychologist what i should do, he said i should create Exit strategies, which means i should create ways to avoid a Melt down, shut Down, or Overload from happening but i have trouble noticing when a Overload is about to happen, i only know when its happening. So how do i avoid shut downs or overloads in school?

That's great because this means you not only have official documents for the condition & school support but also that it will carry on into college..and just in time for you! Diagnoses done pre-18 / university level are much easier to get than post-18.

My #1 exit strategy is getting up and walking out of the room. Works really well actually. :D

Same here. If I can't leave- I cover my ears and bury my head in my arms. I just need less stimulus- so sometimes just closing my eyes is enough.

If I feel hot, have a tight band around my head or want to cry for 'no reason'- those are my warning signs.
