These statements have not been double-blind tested or peer-reviewed.

So, anecdotally speaking, the paleo and raw diets seem to encourage a beneficial balance of bacteria. These are quite convenient, for a bachelor, due to simplicity of preparation, but I have found them to be impractical, when living with other people. Nobody else eats this stuff. There is a limited amount of room in the fridge and on the stove. But, I have spent a considerable amount of time, grazing in the garden.

Probiotics appear to be helping with borderline-debilitating, chronic ear infections and stomach complaints, probably exacerbated by nervous conditions.

Thoroughly-fermented foods are going to be somewhat offensive to normal, let alone hyper-acute, people. I keep these science projects outdoors, so as not to offend, eat with the window cracked open, and wash up, quick.

The literature says it is physically possible for dangerous organisms to exist in these conditions, but no health emergencies have been verified, where common sense was used vigilantly.

Use only a little, to begin with, because your system will register it as foreign, when you start.

-- Vegetables, lacto-fermented to the point of sourness, not at all limited to sauerkraut.
-- Heavier yogurts, cheeses, and keifer with live cultures
-- fruit vinegars with the 'mother' particulates
-- kombucha with 'scoby' disk.
-- I don't make or drink wines or beers, but rustic versions reportedly contain helpful levels of acidiophilus, etc.

In my my experience, enzyme pills were helpful, but anything dry was inert, already.

If nothing else, it can be therapeutic to do something creative.

Are you saying that fad diets are largely ineffective and potentially harmful?

I've done an extreme version of an herbal cleanse/detox & probiotics to balance the gut.

The benefits have been HUGE to my various symptoms. My entire life has changed for the better over the last couple years.

The biggest differences in my treatment protocol vs. just diet = high volume (4-6L) herbal enemas to cleanse/detox the large intestine & low volume (~150mL) probiotic enemas to repopulate healthy bacteria.

Still as completely serious about this as when I first shared it here on WP last January & am an open book about it for anyone who'd like to pm me.
