I get these tics, where I say things like "f*** off" to people, but only when I'm in a stressful environment. I also have motor tics that I find very hard to control.

I also hit or push people when they touch me, I cannot seem to control it, it is a reflex.

Today at uni it was quite crowded. My support worker had to take me to a quieter corner because I was shouting swear words at people and I had my hands over my ears, apparently attracting a lot of attention.

Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with tics? I won't go as far as to say its Tourette's, as I don't get so many vocal and physical tics at home, although the repetitive movements are there all the time.

You said you have a schizophrenia spectrum disorder (I forget which one) right? Are you taking anti-psychotics for it?

The reason I ask is that anti-psychotics can keep my tics under control. I don't know why it works for me. I don't know why it doesn't work for some other people. Maybe there are different mechanisms behind tics. For me Seroquel works as treatment (for several things not just my tics). Risperdal also worked but the side effects were worse.

I used to be diagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenia but now I am Psychosis NOS as I have preserved functioning, especially cognitive functioning.

I am on olanzapine and amisulpride but they do nothing for the tics. I cannot go on a different antipsychotic due to this combination keeping me stable. Olanzapine especially has kept me out of being detained in hospital, last admission was over three years ago. Amisulpride helps me with my challenging behaviour (I am supposing olanzapine does too).

I will talk to my psychiatrist when I see her next week.

Definitely talk to your psychiatrist. I don't really know how drugs work. I don't even know what your Tics are. They could be something totally different from what I have (I have Tourette's) that also happens to cause Tics. Same symptom different disorder.

ever since i was about 12 ive been doing tics with my eyes. Blinking in a funny way and moving my eyes to the extreme right.
I used to shake my hands obsessively.
Is this tourettes or just aspergers?

It is. I've to roll my eyes excessively, and it was much harder for me to notice as a child. I was diagnosed with Tourettes and OCD at 9, and I've had copropraxia since I was 11.

I tell people not to talk about it to me, ask I'm okay, or even mention it. It get worse when I'm stressed, but I'm still doing it anyway. My siblings know when I am, but they both honor my wishes, to a certain degree.

is there medication for tourettes tics?

Yes. Quite a lot on and unlicensed for that indication.
