I've made this thread because I'm really happy that I allowed someone in work to give me a shoulder massage.

I'm not a tense person but I am quite sensitive to touch.

I never in a million years would have thought that I could sit through a full 2 minutes of my shoulders being rubbed.

I'm looking at this as being a breakthrough.

I'm only telling youze because I've got no one else to tell.

Can the same person give you another shoulder massage another time, because someone else doing it might not have the same good effect.
I have a terrible bad back which requires regular back massages as well as as back exercises just to keep me mobile. Some massages have worked wonders for me while others have made me worse.

I too have a bad back but have always avoided going for a massage because of my sensitivity.

Yes. I think he probably would give me another massage at some point.

I just felt really proud of myself that I could allow someone to do that. It probably wouldn't even be a big deal to most people.

Oh by the way, it is quite normal at my works for people to have close physical contact with each other. It's a bit of a cultural thing with us.

My dad gives me shoulder massages and it really helps me relax a lot. I don't think I could stand someone else doing it though. Big congrats on getting through one :)

I sometimes see the situation as a benefit vs. cost issue.

If you are in enough pain, you will tolerate something you don't like to make it go away.

You might not like being touched by another person, but if you realize a massage will release a lot of discomfort, you "get over" your issue enough to do it because you enjoy the benefit more than the discomfort of subjecting yourself to the touching part.
