I like to buy Lottery Tickets, a lot of the time at the local Lotto Centres. Especially if the Jackpot keep on growing until somebody wins it all. I to buy the 6/49-BC/49 Double Dips for $10. I also started buying the Super 7s, again, since the last two Jackpots seemed to be decent ammounts. I'm set on winning Tonight's Jackpot in such a big way that I spotted a house that's on sale along the path where I walk my Dog, and I helped myself to a Photocoppied Profile of the house. I've always wanted my own house, and I might be getting it, if I win the 6/49, tonight. I'd also like to go to London every Spring, because that seems to be one of the less buissier times of the year. I might take my Family and our Family Friends who live in California to London for the Christmas Holidays, one year but I have to see if I win the $24 Million, first. If I won the Lottery, I'd give myself the two things that I've always wanted. My own house and unlimmited trips to London, England.

I personally have never bothered with the lottery because my chances of winning anything substantial are tiny. But I admire your optimism and wish you loads of luck :D

I have notoriously bad luck with stuff like that, so I don't do the Lottery and 'win' £1 every week...

Good luck to you anyway CockneyRebel!

i don't do the lottery as i'm opposed to it politically - charities, the arts, etc. should be funded properly by government.

I buy scratch and wins, but I can't say I've ever tried lotto.

Scratch and wins are cheap and fun.

I used to like lottery games and gambling when I was a child, because I tend to enjoy games in general. These days, though, you couldn't convince me to mess around with either activity, since the expected value of your winnings is always less than the value of the money that you gamble.

Not sure I understand this one. Lotteries are essentially the only program I know of where citizens voluntarily offer to pay additional taxes to the government.

Personally, I wish they'd legalize all sorts of gambling as a source of revenue. It would shift some portion of the tax burden away from me and onto someone else. I'd love to see more legalized recreational drugs and "sin" taxes on those, too.

I avoid the lottery and have seen the effects it's has on people who are addicted to gambling.

One night at work in july 2002, one of my co-workers who was a gambling addict bought 20$ worth of scratch off tickets on break. From that $20 one ticket won him $50. Which he promtply redeemed for 50 tickets which he scratched off afterwork, of which he won nothing from.

Exactly, Jay! It's not good investment. In fact the lottery ticket buys you some dreams, nothing more. "If I were a rich man..."

I play the lottery by direct debit on line, even though I'm well aware of the fact that I shouldn't... A couple of months ago I got an automated email saying "there's exciting news about your lottery account - log in to find out more". Excitedly, I indeed logged on to find I'd won...... 10 Euros..... They could at least vary the wording of their emails a bit: "there's some vaguely interesting news about your account, but I wouldn't sweat it if I were you" or something

I'm more into planning and working for making money. I am presently working out rules and prices for some of my dad's apartments which I will take over in the future. It's a complicated pile of work to take care of all the buildings and administrate but it's worth it.

I've never played the lottery, but; I do like the $1 scratch-offs. I never win though. :(

I'm putting myself on the Lotto Challenge. I'm planning to take part in all Jackpots that are over $10 Million. If I happen to win that much money, either I'll buy my Parents' house off of them and buy a house for them and give them enough money so they can retire early. I'll also give my Sister and her Boyfriend enough money for a house of their own and to start a Family. I've offered to give her $1 Million of my Future Winnings, but she feels that $1 Million would be too much for her. I want my Sister to have lots of Babies and I'll pay for their basic needs with my future Riches if it turns out to be. I'd still go to London, but after the Terrist buisness is cleared up. I could also take my Family down to see some friends in California at Christmas for two years in a row, for something different to do. If I play enough times, I just might win. :D

I don't buy lottery tickets very often, simply because the odds of winning anything substantial are abysmally small. I buy a ticket sometimes when I'm in a really good mood, and a buck or two are burning a hole in my pocket.

I only buy scratch-and-wins, because you find out instantly. I never buy lotto, 'cause you have to wait to find out. Also, if you're familiar with combinatorics (a high-level branch of math), you'll see that the odds of winning don't warrant buying even one ticket.
