I think I figured out what caused me to have autism, I came across an article about how woman with Lupus can have higher chance of giving birth to a child with autism. My mom has lupus, so I think thats very cool, I read this article.

I'd have to read some journal articles that found the same conclusion (I'm not even sure if that study was published?) for me to agree with you, but my mother also has lupus. From what I can tell, autoimmune disorders run in many families with people diagnosed with ASD (and autoimmune disorders are known to be more common in women), but it doesn't seem like any one disorder actually causes autism.

Just keep in mind they can link just about anything to autism these days, nothing is confirmed.

Correlation does not imply causation. A lot of scientists seem to forget that too.

USNews is not exactly a scientific peer-review journal, either.

Never trust "scientific" finding that are first announced in the popular press.

There is no Lupus in my family history.

I tried searching my college's databases for the journal article, but I couldn't find anything (but maybe someone else can find it?). I really don't think this was ever published.

It's not lupus.

Thank you. :D Did you find any other similar articles, if I may ask?

Yes, the amount of results I found relating to the subject was overwhelming.

Well I don't think it's the main cause, but I think it's one cause for me. Not just because of the article, but in my mom's lupus groups a lot of them have a child with autism.

I must be horrible with search keywords then, because even google only gave me one relevant result :P
Thanks again!

I did, lol (and also EBSCOHost through my college and PubMed as well). I got results (generally about autism and autoimmune disorders in general), but only one was actually relevant to both lupus and autism. I'm not even sure why some of them had lupus as keywords o_O.
