Define Aspie
Over the months I've had this account I've done my fair share of poking around on the site and have found some posts that claim that a majority of people on this site do not have real Aspergers. I have not made a post about that but I do think that it is possible/true. However some posts - I will mention one but I've seen a couple, and I may have misread this post, it's not very clear to me - make it seem that Aspies cannot be mean or that ("real") Aspies don't think themselves better than anyone else that that is instead just Narcissism and so on.
I guess it'd just be easier to put the post here so here you go:

Now before I continue, I'd like to say that if I did misread this post in anyway, I do apologize, and please disregard this post and my incompetence.
That post describes me very well. Strikingly well. And so have other sites that describe the tendencies of an Aspie (by this I mean unrelated to anything sounding like Narcissism, just in general "Aspies display this kind of behaviour and so on"). And So there are a few possibilities:
1) I do not have Aspergers, to which I will be very heartbroken and all along I and others have been misleading me (I'll get to this in a minute).
2) I do have Aspergers and it does entail these Narcissistic traits.
3) I have Aspergers and a Narcissistic Disorder and possibly more on top (of which I strongly believe OCD could be another).
I've been officially diagnosed. I never even heard of such a thing until my mom sent me to the building that handled this kind of stuff. Got all kinds of tests and never saw any results for half a year until a particular encounter with the police. After that happened, my mother come to me and I believe she was embarrassed to tell me this (I honestly don't know, but why else would she keep it from me and others? She also stated that she didn't herself believe it until the police fiasco...) and said that I have what is called Aspergers. After I was told this I immediately googled it and lo and behold, I found something that described me pretty well. I did more research and felt extremely happy that I really was different than everybody else. Since then I've gone on through life, meeting a very nice counselor every month-and-a-half, and now here we are.
So finally the question: Can you define what is considered a true, legitimate Aspie?
I again, apologize if I am not seeing what is going on here. I hope this made sense. If not, I will clarify as quickly as I can. Most people say I don't make sense, but if you reading this and me are both Aspie's then we are not most people. Sorry this was so long, and thanks for the help. I will now go scavenge for Fishy crackers.

You are very likely neurodiverse (Aspie)
There is no true, legitimate Aspie.
Or rather, a true Aspie is one that's been diagnosed.
Sorry if this is not helpful, or not what you asked.
Some Aspies are successful and own multi-billion dollar corporations, others can't go through education and still live with their parents.
Some you wouldn't know they have it unless they tell you, others are so obvious you can tell before you even talk to them.
Some are stereotypical and narcissistic like Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, but the vast majority is not.
This is why many Aspies don't like labels. People don't fully understand Asperger's, so once they hear that someone has it, they may assume that he's a genius like Sheldon Cooper or a savant like the guy from Rain Man.
As the saying goes, "When you meet one person with AS—you've met one person with AS".
Again, sorry if I misunderstood something in your post.

Personally, I don't believe I have Aspergers.
I believe I exhibit some qualities that appear to be Aspergers related due to previous suffering in life.
It's important to keep an open mind about this sort of thing. Just because someone says they have aspergers on some internet forum doesn't mean they actually do. Perhaps they are just some narcissistic bastard who is trying to troll you. Trust me, these people do exist. This site is pretty clean but you never know what you'll find on the internet. It can be a very dark place at times.
Don't give personal information out to anyone.

The "How I Know I Am An Aspie" thread is interesting. Undoubtedly, there are people who frequent WP (including those who are diagnosed, self-diagnosed and suspecting) who are not actually on the spectrum.
Ultimately, it does not really matter. I think WP (and other similar online communities) helps people who have "issues", better cope in this world. And that is a good thing.
