Earlier I had a really gross thought that randomly decided to pop up, and it still won't leave my head, no matter what I do to try to think of something different. I couldn't do anything for at least an hour, except lay on the ground wincing, trying to get it out of my head. It was really painful.

I know this is a sign of OCD, but is it also a sign of ASD itself? If someone with Asperger's has this, does it mean they also have Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, or could it be from the autism itself?

I was basically having a spasm rolling around all over the floor in pain from the thought, and I know a sign of autism is rocking back and forth, so idk if that could be related too.

I've always had intrusive thoughts too - when I was younger, I didn't know about ASD and I believed it was probably OCD, even though that wasn't a complete explanation. I've always found that when I have intrusive thoughts, the only thing I can do is replace them with something else, and funnily enough, what I have always done is swear profusely in my internal monologue. Just drown it out with the most lengthy, creative streams of profanity I can come up with. I guess a calmer, more conventional technique would be mentally repeating a song or movie scene that you know well, or listening to it if you're in a place where you can do so.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I usually try to do what pirrouline said. I don't know if it's a sign of ASD or not but I know that a lot of people with ASD have OCD as well. They often go hand in hand.

But yeah I totally understand what you went through.
