Hello Wrongplanet people,
I have been throwing the idea of writing a book about my life around for a while now. I was in the Lovaas' study and was considered part of the 47% "recovered." I feel like my book might be different b/c I was in this study. Also, I am gay and have bipolar disorder. I guess what I'm asking is do ya'll (I'm in TX) think there would be interest in my story?
Thanks,
Lydia

There is an audience for every book about life with any kind of conditions or mix, - so you´ll find yours too. Anyhow, it will be of value to yourself on your own journey. Get on with it :D

You could write about your encounter with Beethoven!

How you cleaned his room, then he kissed your hand (he was a Victorian at heart!)

Sure, why not? I wish I could do the same thing. My life is kind of weird, especially my childhood, so I hope it might interest someone. I just have to get better at writing first! ;)

Holy Mackeral, OP!

You were in the Lovaas study? We might have lots to talk about!

I was diagnosed as autistic when I was about 3, around 1964. I started speaking at 5 1/2. My mother, in some way, probably used some of Lovaas' methods without knowing Lovaas.

You´re quite a romantic  No, Id like to ask him a few things.
The psych encouraged me to write an autobiography, - but it just goes "Bleeep! File deleted" in my head. I might write shorter things. Just collecting thoughts now, - when I remember to do it.
The difficult thing is to keep on track and not mess up things. Perhaps I should jus go on messing and then sort out. :)

Yeah, wow you were diagnosed back in the 1960s?!? That's interesting about your mother using those methods. I remember bits and pieces of my therapy. But I also have access to my mom's written records and some recordings of therapy. Lots of "good girl" and "good talking" on those tapes.
