Epigenetic Depression and Autism.

Those on the spectrum tend to be more sensitive to outside stimuli and therefore more susceptible to high stress situations and trauma.
This research - LINK - shows that early childhood stress causes an epigenetic effect on an individuals DNA which can cause depression.
Quote:
"Research in humans has shown that repeated high level activation of the body's stress system, especially in early childhood, can alter methylation processes and lead to changes in the chemistry of the individual's DNA. The chemical changes can disable genes and prevent the brain from properly regulating its response to stress. Researchers and clinicians have drawn a link between this neurochemical dysregulation and the development of chronic health problems such as depression, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery disease"
Does it not follow that the reason that the depression rate is so high in neurodiverse people is that early we are more likely to have seriously stressful childhoods?
