I'm wondering if it is ok to have 2 accounts from the same IP address on Wrong Planet. The reason I ask is I am trying to get my mother to join. I want her to ask around on here so that she can finally believe me when I tell her that my lack of understanding other people and my lack of empathy is a result of my aspergers, and not because I'm a terrible human being.

She thinks my inability to make decisions, my fear of getting out into the world, my lack of empathy, my inability to put myself in someone else's shoes, and my lack of skill in making and keeping friends are all my own fault, when I recognize that they are all aspergers traits that I have that I may never be able to change.

I need somebody to explain it to her.

From my experience being on a lot of forums, it's usually okay as long as you get approval from senior staff so they don't think it's someone doing the sockpuppet thing.

The person who is best qualified to explain your situation to your mother is the mental-health professional who diagnosed you.

It's two separate people, so go right ahead. :)

In the past, we once banned an IP shared by 3 separate accounts, and it turns out, it was a family of three in one household using the accounts  so it's helpful that you tell us these things ahead of time.

Oh Lord, don't say that where the sockpuppets can see it. Now they're all gonna tell you in advance they have TEN members of their family in the same house and all of them are Autistic. :D

Our mods are pretty clever, as are our members generally speaking. I imagine it will be easy for the team to sort that sort of thing out. Good luck with your mum, mrsprinkles. I do think reading what autistics have to say can be more useful than listening to professionals, sometimes. Although the suggestion that your diagnostician explain to her is worthwhile, too.

Ok I'm glad we're allowed to have 2 accounts. I'll see if I can convince my mom to post here.

As long as you tell the higher ups ahead of time, it should be fine.

Was that recent or was it years back under the old staff team? I remember one former member talking about getting banned here and her ex boyfriend and her mother. She decided to take it as a compliment because the old staff thought she was that clever to pretend to be three people and stage her own dramas. I thought she took that accusation well.

Did the ban ever get lifted?
