Hello!

I had a job interview last week. I struggled quite a bit not by lack of qualifications for the job but the social aspects of selling my skill-set. I am looking for tools, books, techniques, anything you may know to be helpful. Feel free to share your stories too. I am wondering if I am alone in this. :(

Thank you,

May I ask what sort of jobs you're looking for? In what field?

I think it's about selling yourself and making a personal connection. For interviews I have to pull out all the stops. And it is exhausting! Try to compliment the interviewer ASAP, make a connection with them- same schooling, church, friends, fans of the same sports team, anything. Lie even. Then use their name, smile a ton and make the dreaded eye contact priority #1. Then have rehearsed some key phrases and answers to typical interview questions. Finally, relax, big deep breath and tell yourself to just do your best, and if you don't get this one, there will be others. Stay positive and project a confident attitude.
