I will go first.
These actually happened to me!
1. When I went to Thailand I had to have a passport photo taken. The photographer asked me to lower my chin. I did. She said,"no,lower your chin." I lowered my chin even more, even tho it felt weird. I reasoned that she wanted ny facial skin stretched in case I die, they can identify my skull. My wife laughed and said,"lower your head not your chin"!
2. I was in a salvation army store. A sign said, " dog pen $200". I thought," wow, a pen that looks like a dog. It must be an antique since it costs $200! " I then read in the fine print, " a 6 foot dog pen". I asked the cashier, " can I go into the stock room to see this pen that is 6 feet tall and looks like a dog?" Once again my wife laughed hysterically.
I am not stupid! I graduated from university with a B+ average. I also understand metaphors. I write poems that have been published and I teach philosophy, which is very metaphorical. However, I do have aspergers and sometimes it slips out. I take it in stride and have fun joking about it.

I remembered a time when I was with a group of people and one of them said, "john's still doing that burger flipping job at Round table pizza.". And I replied, I didn't know that they sold hamburgers at Round table. And they replied, "No , burger flipping means that you have a bottom end job. it has nothing to do with actually flipping burgers.". So ya! I've had a few aspie mishaps here and there.

BTW: I took a trip to London and had a guy on the street come up to me and ask for a fag. Which mean cigarette in Briton. It was a good thing that someone told me that before I went to London or I would have just flipped-out.
