Seriously this IS exactly like a curse.

If I was thinking of a really horrible curse at someone I truly hated I'd say,

"I curse upon you that for the rest of your life people will reject you and misunderstand you, and you will not be able to make any friends but only make enemies wherever you go for eternity."

Well you know..... that's pretty much what this is like.

It all depends on how you look at it. I find the majority of people boring and prefer my own company.

Also, having Asperger's gives me some really fantastic traits/skills.

I don't see it as a curse at all.

There are fates worse than death. But honestly, I don't think AS is one of them.

I can say one thing about this. If you don't know what it is, then it really can be a curse. But once you know about it and learn to managed it, it can be a blessing. But like I said before, the key is knowing that you have it. Ignorance is NOT bliss.

I've written better curses for AD&D games.

I don't know if it was just like a curse, then there would likely be some magical way to remove it....

I know how that feels - to have a meter-thick slab of glass between me and humanity and to be lonely in the middle of a lively party. I've wished I could just taste what NTs experience, to really see faces, to have a sense of self, to easily know and communicate feelings... At my age now, I appreciate walking a path less traveled and having unusual perspective and insight. I wouldn't go back and change myself. I want to find joy and freedom and love with me just the way I am. Being autistic in an NT world isn't one bit easy. I trust the struggle is worth it - at least it develops character. :)

I thought about over-analyzing what you said and defending it with dumb statements like "Well, I make like 1 or 2 friends.." but I figured it would be easier to just say, yeah, I get what you're saying. And I do agree.

I never meant that autism was the only curse. This works equally well with most other mental disorders, depression, ocd, tourettes, etc etc.

For example if cursing depression I could say, "I curse you to never be able to feel happy no matter what you do, until living itself seems too much of a burden."
