I am 23 recently self diagnosed. For me I think having two older brothers in close age really helped for me to learn a lot of social deficiencies. I am actually a very social aspie due to my work being an engineer, but that does not mean I struggle during these social situations.

I would like to know what who has experiences with NT siblings and how has being around them affected your Aspergers qualities?

I'm not entirely sure my only sibling is NT. Sometimes he seems more like an Aspie than me! He's pretty shy and quiet and whenever he talks his voice is so low we can't understand him half the time. He's very intelligent and has unusual interests in art and music. But he seems to be happy and he has a job and a wife and kids. My mother once said it must be his destiny in life to be the most educated person in our family. He used to have really bad problems with spelling and handwriting in school, but he loves to read and is a good writer.

Actually, I think my SIL is very lucky to have a husband like my brother. :)

I have four siblings. I only suspect one of them is on the autism spectrum, the other three seem NT. But I also think my mom is on the spectrum. If anything our Aspieness affected our siblings; we were a very atypical household.

My older sister is NT, but the way she behaves sometimes gives me the impression she may be Aspie and not even realize it. However, my sister is an "Autism denier" and has been ever since I was diagnosed with AS at the age of 13, therefore trying to convince her to get a diagnosis will be tough.

I have a younger sister and brother. They certainly made many of them easier to pick out, whether it be through behavioral differences, or through their pointing out things I do that are odd or annoy them. The way they pointed the qualities out also impacted how I felt about them. In these ways and probably others that I can not think of off the top of my head, they have played a role in how my AS is expressed.
