I wonder where they come from? Although I can laugh at some comedy films I have never really got the stand up comedian type jokes. I have also never told a joke because I have never known jokes to tell.

Are you good at knowing or telling jokes or are you like me-joke deficient ?

I'm definitely joke deficient. Many people, particularly men, seem to tend to bond with others by exchanging jokes and banter. For them someone like me is too "serious". I feel nervous and tense when such people are around because I don't know how to respond to their jokes and often end up making everyone feel awkward.

I never really laugh at comedy films, at least not out loud. When it comes to stand-up comedy there are a few comedians that I enjoy and laugh at a lot, even out loud. In social situations if someone tells a joke or anything else funny, and other people start laughing, I mostly just smile or fake laughing. Even if I find something funny, my reaction is pretty dull compared to others. But I am on the other hand pretty good at making other people laugh during conversations.

Exactly!---and if not awkward - then the next subject for a joke. :smurfin:

Although I "get" most of the obvious NT type humor, I don't find it funny. It took me awhile to appreciate Monty Python, but once it took it's been an endless source of fun.

I do find irony, well done parody, and weird connections where you least expect them to be pretty funny.

I have an immature sense of humor, especially when I was younger. I am very mischievous and i'm always finding ways to troll and play pranks on people just to be funny. No I never insult anyone but i'm definitely up to no good. Even my Youtube videos are trollish.

In one of my battle music compilations, near the middle I put the song I will survive into it. And the Youtube comments are filled with like "I will survive? This is a blasphemy !" and "wtf is this s**t?!" So yeah, i'm always finding ways to troll people.

oh yeah, just added a random picture of a ostrich in this video just for the heck of it. Wait for it...

I get most jokes that are told but I find them to be stupid or not worth laughing at it. What I usually find to be funny are comedians who are self-depreciating or cynical about the world, (like me). Things I find funny in real life are also realated to my cynicism. I think it really depends on what your own personality is.

I love jokes. I grew up in a family of jokers. I can't remember jokes I've heard or read very well so telling jokes is out of the question. I can still be very funny when I want to be. My online friends love my sense of humor.

I love laughing at people's jokes. Because I suck at making them myself.

Love jokes and laugh rather easily. Often I'm the first to laugh and love the precision, tone and rhythm of a good comedian. Moreover, I think jokes are an important vehicle for sharing truths that otherwise people might find uncomfortable to swallow.

I think so. If it makes the listener laugh, they've got the point on an emotional level.

Liking jokes doesn't seem to me the kind of thing autistic people would be expected to do very well, in theory, so it's interesting that a lot of us do. I don't see why mind-blindness and poor social intelligence and imagination hasn't inhibited things a lot more, at least when it comes to social jokes, which I guess most popular ones are.

I'm good with jokes, both getting them & telling them - usually. Sure, I've had a few failures here and there with jokes that weren't that funny... but overall I've gotten a lot of laughs. Mostly retelling jokes I've heard, but also from some originals here and there. I'm usually really good at quick situational jokes on the fly - WAY quicker than NT's can think/process/speak - which not only gets laughs, but also impresses people with how quick I am to come up with something hilarious right in the moment so frequently.

my ability to get jokes (and make them) is irregular. Sometimes i do well with banter, sometimes i realize something was a joke several seconds too late, and say "huh?" It helped that my brothers joked around a lot when i was growing up. I get comedy that is some strange situation, parody, or skit better than one-liners, which feel disconnected from anything. My joke-telling is hit or miss too, mostly helped by my brothers teaching me humor. Sometimes i make people laugh with my humor, sometimes i tell a joke that's a bit too bizarre and they all stare at me like i'm a weirdo. Er. awkward.
