I'm literally in hell. I just have to be in the vicinity of people for them to think I'm gay or ret*d. I'm NOT gay, dont' look like it, don't act like it, and I'm NOT ret*d. Anybody else have this problem?

I suppose males who are passive can be mistaken as being 'gay' (whether others mean homosexual or simply do no approve of the passive non-male behavior). It's quite possible not to be mistaken while being passive too. One must stand up for one's self, however.

With as absent-minded as I am, I either look brilliant or like a total imbecile. sigh.

Most heterosexual males seem to think you're gay if you don't run around every spare minute salivating with your tongue on the floor and an uncomfortable inability to stand fully upright most of the time.... I wouldn't worry about it, basically - sod 'em!

Good suggestion TAFKASH. A lot of people would be uncomfortable with that though.

I hate, Hate HATE when people treat my child as if he were ret*d. Like in resturants where they ask *me* what he wants. He's 5'3" and 150 pounds so its like he's child sized or anything. Luckily enough, his self esteem is strong enough that it doesn't usually bother him. At most, he gets a bit ticked off and tells me his IQ is probably twice thiers.

Hotwire,
I'm not male and not an aspie so I can't help. Other than to know that THEY are the ones with problems!

It is seen in how you walk, talk, and
express yourself. Apparently a straight
person is suppose to like football,
get fat, and hang in sports bars(think
Cheers), and the teenager is suppose
to be either computer geeky, or barbie
and ken. These of course are myths
and because we show emotion differently,
the only other group left that makes
sense to a NT is homosexuals.

I, and probly alot of you have many
odd ways of expressing and walking,
and talking, and are not 3.5$ bills
you see at Starbucks. I have nothing
against anybody, just don't call me
what I am not.

Hmmm?

P.S...If I seem fiesty today,
read my S.F Legal-As the
Gh.H turns> GRRRR!

I have had the same problem. I guess it is because I do not spend all my time talking about cars, sports, and nailing every large-breasted woman that walks by. It could be that I like to wear suits, or that I speak very softly. Or that I like Mozart, or that I use correct English, refrain from burping in public, avoid alcohol, and keep quiet about my love life.

Modern American culture seems to intent on teaching young women to be hypersexualized, half-dressed manipulators, and young men to be boorish, testosterone-crazed slobs. Anyone going against the flow back into the primordial ooze is labeled gay, ret*d, or a freak.

Ignore the savages. Nobody was ever meant by the Creator (or nature) to be as low as we are all being dragged.

I made a bumper sticker that reads ODI VVLGVS PROFANVM AT ARCEO.
It is a quote from Horace that means, "I disdain the common crowd and hold it at a distance." I think it is the only way to go through life.

Bumper sticker available free upon request. :D

I think that might be it. Maybe you might want to just talk about how hot a celeb woman is, or talk about some hot chick you saw the other day. It doesn't matter if you're being honest, sometimes you have to lie a little to get NTs to feel comfortable with you. Like you have to just act like them a little bit, and maybe they'll lay off.

How Old are you, HotWire? Inschool it's the worst. When people grow up they will more easily accept you. When they get around and see the world a bit, and start real life.

There wil always be a few people that never grow up and accept people as they are, but you'll find that the majority will make their opinions irrelivent.

I have been told by most people i'm more gustsy and strong than most NT's. You'll find people will admire you more as you get older.

I try to make it through life. I don't mean to brag, but I do a very good job.

AS is rather androgynous. I'm a woman but I think I get perceived as masculine too. I know I certainly feel quite masculine in a lot of areas. I don't think it's anything you do or say, but the fact that people perceive both masculine and feminine in you. Girls don't get the 'gay' thing as much because it's alright to be a 'tomboy'. Sorry about that, guys.

violet_yoshi:

You are not the first person to express that sentiment to me, and I understand. I think that is one of the problems. If I have to lie or engage in gutter talk in order to fit in, I do not want to fit in. Rather sad that one must be a phony in order to conform to NT society. I can control my mouth and my urges (well, mostly), unlike the australopithecenes who set modern mores.

But I guess that phoniness and superficiality are the superglue which holds modern society together. I hear NT colleagues at work discussing the lives of people they will never meet, the fictional events occuring on juvenile TV shows, and the merits of the HEMI-equipped truck. If this is modern life, count me out. I will be as happy as I can be with my wife, our dogs, our faith, Mozart, and the other facets of my life.

The deeper you look into society, the shallower it gets. :|

The last person who called me 'fa***t' lost 2 teeth and almost had a broken jaw, that was 2 years ago now. I still have the scar of the tooth cut on my heel.

THAT ROCKS!

I should have done that on a number of occasions. Geting in trouble for it wouldn't have mattered anymore by now anyway.

I have something similar, but people do not think I am gay but they just call me that. As for ret*d, they know I am not but call me such. But I call others who are gay in my year such when they take the piss out of me and it is hilarious to see their childish reactions.
