When will the masses get used to us?
When will the masses be able to get used to the fact that Autism is here to stay and won't "go away" like a light switch? When will people wake up?
I'm sure it'll be mainstream eventually, because I heard about Microsoft project to hire Aspies or higher-functioning autistics. But it's very late, though and the mainstream still aren't quite used to our way of thinking. There should be more initiatives similar to Microsoft.
I think they are a brilliant corporation.
It depends how much we fight for it.
When we try to fake neurotypical, or accept being treated as inferior if we can't fake it, we make it harder for attitudes to change.
That's why I stim openly in public, even though I could hold it in, and I tell pretty much everyone about my diagnosis. So they can see an autistic person going to university and being a member of the community and all that. Whatever I accomplish in life, I want people to know that an autistic person has accomplished these things - not a slightly weird NT. Each person who sees me acting autistic or hears me talking about my autism gets to see a picture of autism different from the hate messages that Autism Speaks and the Autism Society of Canada put out.

I agree with Ettina's post -- even though, ironically, I have not yet found the inner strength to follow the advice inherent in it.
I do agree that the more times the general public gets to see people among them being open about being autistic, people who are "high functioning" enough that they would usually be able to hide in plain sight by faking and going under the radar, the more this experience will educate more people into realizing that its a spectrum and the person at the office desk right next to you may be autistic. And the more people realize there are all kinds of levels of autism and they all carry their difficulties, the more understanding, information and compassion might be out there for all levels of autism.
However, I myself am doing a bad job of playing my part in this education of people around me. I'm having a hard time trying to put an end to the "faking normal" I've had to do all my life. Much of the difficulty arises from the fact that there was no diagnosis in my own generation and I didn't know I was anything but "normal" and simply failing at it. I thought I was just a flawed normal person with strange problems nobody else had, so I believed I simpy had to "shape up and be better at being normal, dammit". I've only recently in life been evaluated and now it's still all very new to me to adjust to notions of NOT acting fake NT and not having to act like there's no autism in me.
But in principle, I strongly agree that this is one of the ways in which society might change for the better if people like me could do this.
I think we have some good history (recent history that is.) to work with. Take a look at the gay rights. I grew up in the 1980's and I can tell that gay people in that time where hated far more the autistic people where. Think of all the time that gay people had to hold it in and not reveal themselves to others. And look at the gay community today. They can finally be open about it without being ridiculed. The same thing has to happen to the autistic community as well.

I still think this so-called autism thing has more to do with America's poisoned food-supply and flouridated water-supply (flouride is even banned in all of the European-countries due to the fact that it's known to be a by-product of aluminum-processing and aluminum is known to be toxic to human-consumption).
Try going back to cultures that were nomadic or rural, and the cultures and populations and isolated civilisations that were researched by Dr. Weston Price, and compare how well self-sustaining & healthy they were compared to these modern-day city-slickers who don't want to work hard, and are full of liberals who never seem to bother to question the status-quo, and you will see that this so-called autism-thing has more to do with the structure of society's environment than it does to do with any so-called neurological-wiring (see all of my posts that contain evidence of the psychiatric-industry itself being fraudulent).

Nah, only Liberals can't understand, but, you know (well maybe you do not), book-smarts versus street-smarts...

It would be a very good idea for you to read some history as well as quack theories. Autism wasn't even "discovered" in the US, and it was known well before pollution became a significant problem. The first paper on Asperger's was published in 1944, after years of observation. Autism has been identified in historical figures, when there is enough surviving documentation on their lives. You might want to throw in some science reading, as well

If you think autism is not real why go on a forum where most posters will think autism is a real thing? You think you can convince us we are just delusional and we just need to shape up and try harder? You are a troll and just like to piss people off?

Yes, I know about Hans Asperger, and I also know that Asperger's Syndrome has been removed completely as a diagnosis from the DSM ever since its version V came out.

You should be happy about such high-level A.I. being able to exist, yes you should, they can help you with various things & converse with you about life...

Alright, I think there is some kind of misunderstanding of semantics here, but I will maintain that I do not believe that behaviours are caused by so-called brain-wiring, rather, the environment has more to do with your "programming" and affecting your "responses" to various "situations" (social or otherwise).
This is easier to understand if you know about the history of materialist-science & its incompatibility & opposition to quantum-physics (I'm sorry for not going into detail on this part but I'll go into detail later if necessary). For those who are familiar with computer-terms, I would say that trying to use psycho-actives to repair "perceived" brain-damage is akin to trying to inject a static-electricity bug into the CPU of a computer in order to fix errors with memory leak problems, when the errors may be located in the software and have nothing to do with the CPU itself.
Analogy had to be hyper-simplified.

The masses should die. Uniformity should die off. Divergence rules.
America doesn't have a poisoned food supply. It is one of the most highly regulated in the world. Some Americans have diets lacking in balance, but that's something else altogether.
That's not true.
That's nonsensical. Water is a by-product of methane processing and methane is toxic to human consumption... I'll let the misuse of "byproduct" slide.
Lots of premature death.
A belief in the goodness of autonomy is not a cause of autism.
Autism exists in all studied societies.
If anything, that undermines you further - American researchers now acknowledge that the condition Asperger was studying was identical to the condition Kanner was studying. Neither worked in America...
