I found a checklist a long time ago and I rediscovered it on my phone's memory card. I do not remember where I got it, but what it is is a checklist that compares Giftedness with AS traits. I actually had my husband answer all the questions! If you were to believe the answers, I am Aspie-like when it comes to special interests (strongly so) and stereotypacy, and more NT-like when it comes to social interactions.

But I don't know. I mean I have had HORRIBLE meltdowns as a child, and even sometimes as an adult. (horrible as in having meltdowns everyday in school and requiring special education and a personal aide.) And my husband not knowing much about AS and not hearing this vocabulary used for it saying "You do not put yourself in other people's shoes very well."

But on the other hand I consider myself good at reading body language. My husband did not mean I couldn't tell the emotions of other people, what he meant was I don't understand how other people think/their views on things, there is a difference.

It is difficult because I have psychiatric disabilities also currently being taken care of by mental health professionals, but here are things I've heard from them (all of these psychiatrists):

"No, you don't have Asperger's Syndrome, you have a warm personality, Asperger's people are cold."
"That diagnosis would not change your treatment plan."
"I believe you have Asperger's and Bipolar, the Asperger's a lot worse as a child."

I do not believe I am quite NT, but at the same time the AS thing confuses me, even after 8 years of knowing about it!! !
