Do dyslexics have special intrests?

I am asking because a friend in my class says he has dyslexia and he is VERY interested in Vikings, it's all he'll talk about. I have never known dyslexia to have special intrests, do they? Or do you think it's just a personal thing with him?

Dyslexia just means you reverse letters on a page, and are impeded in reading. Its not comparable to autism as a condition (like ADHD is comparable to autism). He is just a dyslexic NT who digs Vikings. Too bad that he probably he has trouble reading books about them.

So... if you're NT and you like something that not everyone is into such as Vikings that's okay, but if you have Aspergers and were really interested in Vikings, that's weird and abnormal and you're bully bait.

I have both
Dyslexia and AS

so whatever special interests I have
it's more as related.

My point was the question was directed toward dyslexics specifically, not necessarily those with two conditions in which one can introduce the special interest.

I went to a school for dyslexics & they generally don't have special interests. I have dyslexia & Aspergers & OCD & I used to have special interests before my OCD was treated. Perhaps he's on the spectrum too & just doesn't know it or has OCD or just likes vikings.

I think any overlap is due to the effects of not fitting in, dyslexics social understanding is fine.

In elementary school there was a guy with diagnoses dyslexia, he was obssessed with monkeys. Now that I think of it, he had lots of traits related to autism.
