extended family trouble
We are have a terrible time with my wife grandma. She demands to take the children out but refuses to learn how, when, and why's of their autism to keep them safe and out of harms way. Not to mention her verbally aggressive nature, and bullying her daughter every chance she gets. Here is a letter grandma sent her while she was on vacation.
I'm not sure where to start, so this is coming from MY heart and I've put much thought in this.
When I left on Sun. It was with a broken heart. I wondered if Lee and you felt any emotion for you Daughter. I am important to Her, and there is so much She is missing out of because You and Lee won't allow her to spend any time alone with Me. MOST Parents want there childern to learn and experience the most out of life.
When a Parent or Parents hinder this education from a child, What do they call it? And why would a Parent or Parents want to do such a thing to a child? I feel there is a TERM for this as well.
I'm important to Breah and Allexxander, I'm asking Lee, and Amanda to consider My role in the lives.
They will Both grow up and be adults and then understand what choices You Both have made. Love Grandma Deb.
and my reply
Deb,
To the question of "Do we feel any emotion towards our daughter?" You will never see the hard days and nights we go through with them, the struggles we fight, the tears we shed.
You claim to be important to them however they only see you every few weeks if that. No one is keeping you from visiting them more. Letting you learn how to deal with meltdowns, to show you how to interact with them when things do go bad. I have seen first hand what you do when you don't get your way and get angry with someone and I refuse to put my children anywhere near that, because if I did that would be child abuse.
As far as rights go. In 2000, the Supreme Court cited a long train of previous cases which showed that the right of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children is a fundamental right. If you would like to read more about it you can find everything here http://www.parentalrights.org/index.asp ... 244D13%7D&
If you would like feel free to contact the kids Social Worker Laurie at ###-####
We meet with her every month if not more and I am sure she would be happy to discuss your thoughts on us hindering our children in any way shape or form.
Am I not handling this well? How should I handle it or what can I say?
