I do not know what it is called but when I get very tired (mentally tired - overwhelmed) my brain send these flashes of me being somewhere else.
I is very brief (parts of a second) and is probably triggered by something I see or hear (?).
It is like I am feeling that I am somwhere else (mostly in some kind of dark forest like setting). I think my brain is getting confused and start mixing sensory inputs. It is not especially unpleasant but a bit weird!

Does anybody know this feeling? and know what it is called?

Are toy able to visually see the place where you feel like you are? Or is it just that you feel in that moment reminiscent of the place?

It is likely not a sensory issue.

It could be a perceptual issue or a hallucination or a memory.

Pls describe what you hear, smell, feel on your skin, and see when this occurs.

Does everything go silent or muffled when this occurs?

Do you have diabetes?

Have you ever fainted/blacked out?

Well, yes and no ;-)

I am non-visual - meaning that I do not have a visual memory. At best I can see shadows of memories or thoughts.

I feel that I am in another place. It is such strong feeling that I think that i am somewhere else. Off course I am grown up and know that it is not really happening, but the feeling is very strong for a very brief moment of a time. I can have a very weak visual, which very unusual for me, it normally only happens when I dream.
I think the brain is so tired that it can not distinguish my thoughts from each other.
I can surpress it now but otherwise it would be meltdown time. The only solution is to sleep or go into a sort of meditative state to realx and clear my brain.

I do not have diabetes and have never fainted or other such things.

perceptual issue or a hallucination is an interesting view!
I have never really thought about other sounds getting muffeled, but they must be, because I am somewhere else.
As I stated above, I don´t really do Visuals but it induces some kind of vague visual forest like visual (I like forests)
No smells - I don´t really do smells in my head, or physical feelings. Sorry, but my way of thinking is not quite normal, not even for aspies.

I have no idea what it is but it can't be that unusual 8O

Ha! I just looked up hallucinations.
Sounds like it in some ways - visual hallucinations.
I am not doing drugs and I am not scizofrenic. Therefore I am probably just a Little bit weird :nerdy:

if you are overwhelmed you say...

this leads me to think these 'flashes' are, basically, dreams.
you are overwhelmed, so your brain shuts down. like when you sleep, some parts of the brain don't like having no input, so they make something up: this is just what a dream is...

It only happens when I am really tired out, mentally tired.
It is actually pretty cool, just like being teleported to somewhere else ;-)

I do think that the brain is doing something weird - maybee getting "confused" or sort of dreaming.
