The former can a lot on the latter imo but both are not often well defined.

(i)Someone once told me how “self-confidence is gaining traction with people. It’s trial and error”, which is a start and makes me think that in one way it’s gaining a comfortable familiarty enough so that your not as hesitant to take action or think certain things

(ii)The latter is trickier though. There are moods, there is consciousness, there are temperments, there are personalities..and there is the semantics and specific terminology used, which means more than “surly and rude” when attitude refers to something bad. With such terms I wonder what does attitude actually mean and where is it’s space among different psychological concepts.

I admit one reason ,I'm asking for a definition of the word "attitude" I can see the book I'm thinking of where I once saw a definition for it

One could be self-confident while having an almost-smarmy "niceness" about them. I am often accused of that.

Usually, people with "attitude" lack self-confidence, in my opinion.

"Attitude" is a negative sort of "bravado" which might give those who don't know better an impression of "self-confidence."

For me, self-confidence means assurance in one's own abilities.

Showing self confidence is outwardly "acting" as though you can control certain things that you can't.

Attitude is when you refuse to conform to the social rules of hierarchal structures.

Nice and thanks for bringing up "a negative sort of "bravado" " definition.

I'd say a person's attitude is their expression of like or dislike for a given target.

Isn't that overconfidence?

I guess that's the modern definition, as in "I like that dude, he's got attitude." It's a much more specific definition than mine, perhaps less objective too, though on an emotional level I prefer it, because your definition of attitude has attitude.
