I've heard about clinodactyly. I HAVE clinodactyly, in hands and feet.

I've heard quack science posts that say they're common in autism (and you know how fun THOSE "informative" articles are).

But really, how many of us have it?

i have some crooked fingers.

I have a slightly bent left pinky finger but it is a genetic identifier of my Scots clan heritage

My toes are crooked and curve, yes. Don't think my fingers do. I just Googled this in toes, and I found this picture:

The caption under the picture says that these crooked toes result from shortened tendons. I've also read before that toe-walking can lead to shortened tendons. I've toe-walked all my life. So, I'm wondering if my curved toes are really a result from over 20 years of toe-walking?

I have it on both hands. My middle finger on my left hand bends quite a bit to my ring finger. It has even developed a "knot" on the right side of the knuckle closest to the nail. I always thought it was more severe than the right hand due to slamming it in the locked car door while the keys were on the seat (had to pull it out without opening the door)...

One toe on each foot is bent a little, but I don't think it's clinodactyly. Few people that I've seen in my life have had perfectly straight toes.

One of my toes bends a little, and one bends a heck of a lot. It's bizarre. It looks like my toe is broken (it's not, and never was).

Then. both my pinkies curve inwards, can't make them point straight. Same with my index fingers.

I don't think you can prove an autism connection, but it's interesting anyway.

It seems like quite a benign sort of physical quirk. Actually kind of cute, especially to one's significant other.

It's one of the minor anomalies found in Down syndrome, I know that much. But most people who have it don't have DS. They just have funny shaped fingers.

Yes, I'm an Aspie so I have claw-like fingers, with big claws that will come and get you in the night.





That was sarcasm - course I haven't got deformed fingers.

In my case, fourth toes sticking underneath the middle toes. But I appear to have inherited this from my NT dad, so it doesn't appear to be linked to Asperger's in my family.

My fourth and fifth toes have always underlapped. I didn't notice my pinkies on my hands being slightly bent inward until I got arthritis. I guess that's made it more pronounced.

Everybody's feet are different. My friend's got feet where her little toe actually overlaps the next toe. It's pretty disgusting to see actually. And I know someone else with short feet and really long toes, and somebody else with long flat feet and small toes.

Both my little does are bent almost right round in a semi circle. Most of my family seem to have it though. It's known as "The [our surname] toe"

Along with a host of other problems with my hands, I also have clinodactyly (though not posing a problem, unlike the RA, flexor tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome). It is actually said to be common in general, not just within the autism community (it's also comorbid with many other disorders/syndromes). My fith toe curls so badly, they aren't visable from the top of my foot. Though said to occur in families, nobody else has it in my family.
