Sorry for the awkward title.

Rank how senses (sound, vision, taste, smell, touch, pain*) from most sensitive to least sensitive. Here is mine:

1. Touch (Extremely sensitive)
2. Smell (Above average)
3. Taste (Average average)
4. Sound (Normal)
5. Vision (Normal)
6. Pain (Less sensitive than average)

How about you?

*Many people seem to have a very low tolerance to light touch but high tolerances to pain or visa versa, which is why the two are separate.

Sound (severe sensitivity)
Touch (moderate/severe sensitivity)
Taste (moderate sensitivity)
Smell (mild sensitivity)
Sight (moderate sensitivity)
Pain (low sensitivity)

For me, sensory problems are one of the worst aspects of my autism.

Can't do the poll because I would say that sound and light are equal.

Then I am not sure how to place things like textural differences between foods as a taste or touch since it's the tongue.

And, I have a low pain threshold, but since it's not engaged much, I don't know how to rank it.

This is me.

Sound (severe sensitivity) == Sight (severe sensitivity)
Pain (severe sensitivity) (Don't know how to rank this...see above)
Taste (moderate to severe sensitivity)
Touch (moderate sensitivity)
Smell (mild to severe sensitivity)--Depends...the actual 'smeller' part does not work well. But, I have attempted to smell something in the fridge to see if it was good or not. I smelled nothing, but the body still wretched. So, something is working, don't know how to describe it. And, some smells just cut through the dormant 'smellers' and just kills me instantly. Close off my breathing and/or make me nauseous.

1. Temperature (Very heat sensitive)
(yes, I know this one wasn't on the original list, but it's my worst sensory issue by far, so it needs to be on my list)
2. Taste (Above average, used to be very sensitive, but is somewhat less of a problem now)
3. Touch (Average average in regards to light touch to neck/spine, other than that area it's merely a dislike to people touching me)
4 - 7. Smell, sound, vision, pain (Normal)

Sound - my general hearing is below average but sound sensivity is above-average sensitive.

Pain - I have low threshold for pain.

Touch and taste - average.

Sight - my general eyesight is below average, and I'm not sensitive to light.

Smell - very poor. (Nose-blind).

With temperature I am sensitive to cold and more tolerant to heat.

Joint 1st - Touch / Sound / Pain (I have synesthesia between these two senses so they feel like the same thing to me. I also have a thing called allodynia from changes to my spinal cord where touch feels painful so Pain is all wrapped up in this too. I am very very sensitive to these three.

4 and 5. Smell (- sensitive) and Sight (- sensitive)

6. Taste - lack all sensitivity

I don't understand....does that mean sensitivities? Or no sensitivities.

It just basically says that you are not at the highest end of sensitivity. That leave a lot of room below. Not being picky. Really want to know. :batman: :batman: :spiderman: :spiderman: :batman: :batman:

Well, I think that means it's pretty normal as far as sensitivity is concerned. But I can't call it "normal" because I'm very nearsighted, which isn't normal. I may be overly sensitive to light, but I'm not sure if that's because of autism or something else. Either way, it's only a minor problem.

Touch and smell are by far the most annoying and sensitive of the hypersensitivities. But sound is pretty annoying, too. :batman:

I would put them in this order:

Touch - I notice textures and I'm quite sensitive to them. Some make me very uncomfortable.

Smell - I'm sensitive to smells - I can pick up smells that others don't notice and also the subtle details, including exact meals that are being cooked when I walk past houses. However, I don't have anything negative associated with this so I've put it slightly below touch, since some textures really bother me.

Taste - I have a lot of issues surrounding the taste of foods, and I do like to combine foods to 'dull' the flavours because I prefer one overall taste to lots of different flavours in a meal, so this is probably one of my stronger senses.

Sight - I have some light sensitivity, if that's what this includes, but my actual sight is pretty terrible. I had laser eye surgery 4 years ago, and it's failing again slowly. I expect to be back in glasses in a few years.

Sound - I'm putting this quite low because, whilst I notice sounds without an issue, I do need lots of loud noise or my music turned up loud to feel at ease and fully appreciate it.

Pain - My pain threshold is pretty high, I think. I tend to cope well with pain and always have. Giving birth was traumatising for me - the pain was worse than I ever could have imagined even with the knowledge that it would be the worst pain in the world. However, I still remember the anaesthetist telling me that he was shocked how long I coped for without epidural, saying that people never usually managed anywhere near that long with contractions as strong as mine, so I'm assuming I did quite well.
