Ok, so like when i am reading a book or something, i cant stop myself from thinking about other stuff, so when i read a book im not taking in what the words actually mean because im thinking about something else, like something i love doing, or past events.

Does any other aspies here have this problem? :?

I do. I think it has something to do with ADHD.

Sounds like inattention. My guess its more related to a pure ADHD diagnosis. But since the rate of diagnosed ADHD in diagnosed aspies is so high there has to be some strong
overlap in the two conditions. I read that dyspraxia also has inattention features. This is all likely confusing to us humans trying to label things but the precise way we define mental conditions is just a poor attempt to understand the real complex world of biology
that does not give a d*mn about our problems labeling conditions.

Yeah I have the same problem reading :)

I have this problem a lot. I'll get to the end of a paragraph and realize I have no comprehension of what I just read even though I know I read the words. A lot of times something that I read triggers a memory or idea and I'll start thinking about that even though I keep reading. I'll often go back and re-read something several times before I just give up because I obviously can't concentrate right then.

Glad I am not alone!

Tally another yes. I've been working on it, though. The more I read, the beter I can focus my attention on it (not in a sitting, though).

Yeah I deal with that problem also.

I can read a page and realize I have no idea what I just read, cause I was focused on thinking about other things.

If I'm reading college books, yes.

If I'm reading a book I wanna read, no.

THat describes me very well though I can usually kind of force myself to focus on the book but it's not always easy to do and it's no fun doing it but I have to do it otherwise I'll be screwed, lol.

Silence definitely helps me too...I often have to wear earplugs.

Yeah thats an important distinction because people with ADHD can focus on things they
enjoy.
