I would tend to agree with the premise presented.

Interesting.

I am glad to see them questioning the conventional thinking that rigidity of thought is a hallmark of autism. I can be stubborn, pig-headed and obstinate, but I think my conceptual process and imagination is extremely fluid. The divergent thinking example they gave seems very familiar to me. My day to day patterns are fairly rigid, but not my thoughts. I suspect that there is diversity in the spectrum in this as in many things.

Nice to see someone from Autism Speaks doing something that isn't negative.

I'm interested in what horrible skin condition this child on the image on the article has:

Having petals instead of skin must lead to quite of harassment for that boy. I don't recall people with autism having a flower instead of a face so I'm not sure what the relevance is.

But anyway, I wonder what uses people came up with for the brick and how they judged the uniqueness. Seems to be a bit subjective. But sounds interesting.

What was said, basically, was that autistic people, despite "rigid thinking," "think outside the box."

I would say it merely confirms my previous impressions.

This is intriguing, especially because an employee of Autism Speaks headed it. 8O

Can you imagine the sensory issues that might cause? The scents. Ugh!

Makes sense.

I'm glad there's positive stuff being mentioned.
