I don't know about you and hope it doesn't offend anyone but I feel like I'm missing a part of my frontal lobes, that's how asperger's syndrome affects my life and and just a loser.

Will I ever find true love?
Should I start attempting to reduce autistic traits with diet and using the mild hypothermia technique ?

If you love anybody and all of you are breathing the same atmosphere, it gets no truer. Sometimes you have to find those people but you needn't go searching for something that's completely intrinsic, only the people themselves.

Mild hypothermia is not a familiar technique to me, I just love skiing. The diet I used to reduce my symptoms worked great, though it wasn't (& still is not) strictly speaking legal.

I deleted my Facebook on American soil, I work in its' interests but I see little reason to feign privacy on the internet. It also helps to be a REALLY strange human being if you elect to try my route; I was referring to the (somewhat) safer hallucinogens &/or medicinal marijuana.

Yes.

No idea what the mild hypothermia technique is, though, so no comment on that.

We are only screwed if we want to be screwed.

I, myself, wished I were screwed every day!

There are autistics who are married and have children. Some only get diagnosed because they had an autistic kid.

Really? How much of an effect on your symptoms did they have?

Also, elsewhere you mentioned migraines...my dad gets bad migraines so i guess I am at risk...I am already beginning to get a few. What herbal stuff are you using to deal with migraines?

To say we're screwed is a pretty strong and exaggerated statement. Obviously there is some truth in what you're saying, in the sense that it makes our lives much harder because we have to deal with things that other normal people dont, and we need to learn how to get over things more than others, etc. So, it requires more effort from our part to deal with things, and improve in life, which leads to things like marriage, new home, job, etc. - much more difficult. But, it doesnt mean we're screwed, not at all. Nothing is hopeless. To me, the moment I hear "Screwed" it automatically translates to "hopeless" or "despair", and that is simply not true. There is always hope, even for somebody laying in bed in hospital right now with a broken leg and unable to move. And I truly hate hearing things like "We're screwed", as that is negative thinking. Think positive, and that will improve your mood and the way you deal with things, and improve your life. :)

The rate at which our syndrome reoccurs within the human population, along with the consistency of common symptoms, suggests that Aspergers is not a disability - but an adaptation. Just like the same is true of many other disorders.

Since it most likely is an adaptation, it means that it acted as a successful mindset in our evolutionary past and helped our ancestors to successfully reproduce and stabilise this syndrome in human genome. To clarify - just because something has evolved and imprinted in genome does not mean it will be passed on the offspring in direct line - it will reoccur within the population at random, at a set percentage (subject to environmental compatibility).

Now, environment mostly decides whether you being different in any way is an advantage or disadvantage. But not only environment - you also can focus on using your uniqueness to your advantage. The key here is to understand, that others will never be like you, and you will never be like others. The key is to stop comparing yourself to everyone else and instead learn to use the emotional and social mechanisms that drive other people. Fake it to your advantage, make your disadvantage an advantage in getting what you want. "Infiltrate" the mainstream world and get for yourself what you want out of it. Asperger's may be limiting in some ways, but is definitely capable of making you superior in other areas.

Your focus is another deciding factor - you can focus on where you are lacking; or you can focus on where you are unsurpassed. The choice is yours.

I don't know what diet you're considering, but I advise checking it out with a dietician to make sure it's nutritionally balanced. You don't want to get a nutritional deficiency, that'll just make everything worse.

As for mild hypothermia, that sounds like a really bad idea. I'm from a prairie province in Canada and I've gotten mild hypothermia a few times (outside at -40 Celcius) - it didn't make me any less autistic, just really tired, hungry and cold. Plus, there's the risk you might misjudge and get into severe hypothermia, in which case, you won't necessarily be able to realize the danger and get yourself warmed up. If you're determined to do this, make sure you only do it in the presence of someone with first aid training.
