Sensory Overload and Meltdowns
Page 1 of 1 [ 1 post ]
A meltdown best describes the problem I had as a child and as an adult. But, I normally don't have overwhelming sensory overload, but it for some reason comes on just before a meltdown! I find that if I start getting upset and then notice the lights getting brighter and the sounds getting louder, I can make it more dark and quiet and I can prevent the full-blown meltdown from striking. Is this normal or not? Or is there another reason for the awful behavior that I display that commonly includes throwing things and yelling obscenities at my husband. (and throwing bird related books to the point that tape holds some of them together)
