Aspies are toxic? Isn't suicide the rational thing to do?
Disclaimer: I won't kill myself unless I really have to.
However, do you think aspies are toxic people? That's the way we seem to be. Our existence is harmful to both ourselves and the people around us. We harm other people by being around them and annoying them. In exchange for that, we get bullied and isolated, which harms us.
Is suicide the rational solution to the problem of being an aspie? After all, the life of an aspie in the NT world is a horrible life. It's worse than a break-up every day. We are always bullied, rejected, we can't contribute to society or get jobs. We are toxic. Is such a life worth living? No. Therefore, from a strictly rational point of view, the best thing an aspie can do is kill himself. Commiting suicide is better than dying from starvation.
What do you think?

No I do not think aspies are toxic people.
Plenty have jobs and families. There are those who will never work or have a family and those who will be somewhere in between. But why should that mean they should kill themselves, it is definitely not the answer.
It's very unlikely I will ever have a proper job or a husband/kids but that really does not matter whether I end up with those things or not. I am perfectly happy, as are many others. Though not everyone is happy but there is no reason why they can't be, within reason.
Anyway, I definitely do not think the rational solution is to kill themselves.
I can't speak for your experience and it sounds like you're having a sh***y time but as the parent of an aspie child I can say he brings me immense joy as he does to the rest of his family and friends. So it's far from fact that aspies are harmful to those around them.
It sounds like you are surrounded by some not so nice people. Can you do anything about that or are they people you have no choice in mixing with?
IMO you have it backwards. Allistic people are the toxic ones. If anyone's gotta die it should be them, not us.

Bullying is not a "just" decision in that the people receiving it are bad people who deserve it. Not if they're NTs and not if they're Aspies. Annoying someone or being different, whether it's orientation, race, or neurology, doesn't change that.
Your statements don't apply to all or even most Aspies in my experience. Some of us have complex jobs. Some of us can only focus on simple ones. Some of us can't handle it at all, but contribute other skills from home. I remember reading about one who was an excellent artist and painter.
Everyone has the right to be alive and take up space in the world, just not to harm or exploit others.
You're six feet tall, OP. You will get a girlfriend some day.
You're in college, and you will make it. It's going to be difficult. But you will make it.
The THOUGHTS of Aspies are sometimes toxic....to themselves.
You are a viable person even if you're an Aspie. Don't let other people try to tell you what "cool' is.

Sorry you are struggling. Suicide is not rational in this sense. Life is hard, and it is a struggle. It's ok for it to be that way. Humans are supposed to be unique and different. Figuring out how to get along with each other is part of the package deal we get when we are born. Some people suck at it and I'm sorry you seem to be on the receiving end, but every situation is different.
Good luck and stay safe.
I think that depends. I don't want anyone to kill themselves. I think everyone can have a sense of purpose and be useful but it's difficult if your at a disadvantage from the beginning.
I think; perhaps we must purposely prove our eight to belong in this world and we must purposely, rather than passively strive to improve ourselves and do good work.
That's just my opinion though, it's what I do and so far works very well. Before I never tried to do anything, things just happened to me and I just existed; but that thinking sucks. I do have power over what goes on to some degree and I have to use it.

Destruction and creation are 2 sides of the same coin.
Some people without Autism have a disability that makes life difficult for them in finding employment and relationships, and have been bullied because of their disability.
Why do so many Aspies think that everybody (99% of the population) have it easy just because they don't happen to be Autistic, like Autism is the only thing to make a person mentally challenged?

No, suicide is rarely rational.
As cheesy as it may be, your chances of things improving are rarely 0. If you do commit suicide, then things will not get better. Rationally, it should only be done if you have a terminal illness or an extremely serious injury (for example, whilst I respect the right of paralysed people to live, I also wouldn't tell someone with locked-in syndrome or near total paralysis that they couldn't kill themselves).
Nah, your premise is logically weak. From experience, things can get shockingly better, they just don't get better exactly the way you plan them to. I am old enough to know this.
Hang in there, suicide is always an option, but resurrection isn't.
Aspies are persistent, persist in living and improving things one small step at a time. You never know when opportunity will come your way. And be kind to yourself.

Killing yourself is never a solution and Aspies are not toxic people at all. The best solution for your troubles is to focus on yourself-be a little selfish with your time, interests, etc. and don't pay so much attention to what the outside world thinks. Doing this has brought me immense joy and a sense of comfort and security within my own skin.
Wrong Planet is also important and a wonderful tool for Aspies to use. If you are ever having an off-day you can always come here and find others who understand what you are going through and are more than willing to support you.
I'm sure you have a lot to offer, but you are stuck in a bad situation right now. I don't know how old you are, but I do know that I spent much of my youth (high school, college) hating life and not understanding others around me. Those days are over now and I can create a life that I feel comfortable living. It may be hard now, but it does not last forever.
I find that oftentimes, the toxicity of an Aspie comes from our own thoughts. We are often self-destructive, over-thinking our actions to the point of convincing ourselves that we cannot function 'normally.' In actuality, those standards don't exist. They were put in place by a neurotypical society. We don't have the choice to be on the spectrum. But neurotypicals can and do make the decision to push conformity to their norms.
As for not contributing to society, that's definitely not the case. I suggest googling a list of scientists, writers, and artists with aspergers. There are a ton of us out there, I promise.
You ask what do we think Cockroach...
Well, this is what I think:
- please seek to heal your pain from past events by finding someone wise/skilled enough to guide you
- please stop making these threads with gross generalisations and projections onto all NTs and ASD people
- please don't consider your situation hopeless. It is not.
- please remember this: when you know better, you do better. We live and learn. It's the human condition.
- please consider changing your username. Perhaps you chose it to project onto yourself your self-rejection.
- please realise that it is manipulative to try to persuade members to support suicide to justify your feelings.
- please find someone safe who can privately acknowlege your despair and provide supportive connection.
- please realise, above all, that despair is a door not a wall - a call not to suicide but to begin healing.
- please realise when emotional energy is almost nil, connection with a safe person may start your healing.
- please realise that toxic phrases like "Aspies are toxic?" may be hurtful and harmful to other members here.
- please learn to respect yourself and your right to be you, to exist, to grow, to heal.

I think perhaps you yourself are not doing well, and maybe you are blaming yourself unfairly...maybe you really have treated people terribly but you cannot assume your experience is an exact reflection of everyone elses. I don't harm people by my mere existence I am pretty sure. I am sure I have done things that have harmed people, but everyone has I also know I've done things that have helped people. I certainly have been harmed with bullying and ostracism throughout my life, but I don't see how that should make suicide rational there are things I enjoy and like, and relationships I care about with people...there is much difficulty in life but my life is not 'horrible'.
There are plenty of ways to 'contribute' aside from having a job...and I already have a set opinion on who I think is contributing the least and taking the most...but that's a topic for another thread. I am also not 'always' bullied and rejected I have friends/acquaintances, some family I get along with and a boyfriend who really likes me. Though admittedly I make a point to stay away from squares, yuppies and people who make a point to conform to normalcy just because 'its how it is'....I prefer fellow misfits of society. The best thing I can do is live life....I did try killing myself before and over-all i am glad it didn't work.
This doesn't appear to have anything to do with 'strictly' rational choices....none of that sounds rational at all. For one the term 'toxic' usually refers to a person who willfully causes trouble for others, berates people and acts like a 'nasty' person. I don't doubt there are toxic autistic people....since we're human and there are toxic humans in general but to try and lump us all into that is inaccurate and certainly not based on any factual evidence. Also how is the rational conclusion for 'I am suffering' suicide? wouldn't it be more rational to find ways to reduce the suffering?
