So I think this is a interesting topic because these two conditions have a lot of similarities. Like:
Sensory problems, many dyspraxics hand flap and stim
Obsessions, I don't know how obsessed dyspraxics get in things compared to aspergers (meaning how much time and energy they put into the obsession) but it is extremely common for dyspraxics to be obsessed in things. Like I saw this dysrpaxia forum and they had a poll of how many of you (dyspraxics) have weird obsessions, and like 20 people voted and I think like 18 of them said yes and the other 2 said they had obsessions but nothing unusual, not one said no.
Motor skill problems, I don't know how different the motor skill difficulties in people with aspergers and syspraxia are, but they both often (well dyspraxia almost always i would think) have problems with them.
Social problems, I have read they some dyspraxics have problems with reading other peoples body language and have a tendency to take things literally (A lot less severe as aspergers it seems though).
Bad working memory are often present in both but the good rote/long term memory does not seem to be as prevealant in dyspraxia.
It seems both can have difficulty in executive function.

I would say there probably diffrent in:
Asperger social problems are a lot more severe
Dyspraxics aren't all like really smart, I mean in academics, like they don't have the often amazing academic abilites many with aspergers have in things like math and science, often dyspraxics struggle with logiccal reason (though I guess aspies do too in abstract concepts)
Some dyspraxics have a hard time speaking (they have a hard time moving there mouth the right way) were as aspies often have extremely good volcabulary (you can be dyspraxic and be good at speaking too, it's just more common in aspergers)
Many dyspraxics are extremely empathic were as aspies often lack or have odd empathy.
I would imagine the aspies rituals/inflexible routines would be a lot less common in dyspraxia.
Dyspraxics are simpily more socially aware and "feel more normally" than aspies do.

So I think it is very possible these two conditions are related, what do you guys think?

They're comorbids but separate conditions.

My oldest son has been diagnosed with dyspraxia by a pediatrician. I always thought it was more than dyspraxia.

I thought to have dyspraxia you had to rule out ASD

Oh yeah, I know there different, I just find the similarities interesting. Like maybe some people diagnosed as mild aspergers and have bad motor skills would be better described as dyspraxic. Again SOME people. I think there a little two similar to not be scientifically related in some form. Like hand flapping when excited are present in both conditions.

I am wrong. This was something I had read a while back on the diagnosis of dyspraxia it had said in order to diagnose dyspraxia one must first rule out ASD. But double checking now, as iliketrees, said the conditions can be comorbid.
