So I got my diagnosis last month, and I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. The psychologist recommended ABA to help with the social skills issues, and an occupational therapist to help with the sensory overloads/overstimulation stress. I spoke to one ABA therapist who said that the therapy isn't typically covered for adults (since it's about $2000 a month and 15 hours a week), and so most ABA therapists have little experience working with adults. She recommended group therapy or social skills classes/therapy, but I'm still looking. I haven't located an occupational therapist yet and wasn't sure where to look.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? In your experience, are there any sorts of therapies covered by insurance that are for adults, especially the late diagnosed, or am I pretty much on my own here?

There are support groups on and offline such as GRASP which was started and mostly run by Autistic people http://grasp.org/page/grasp-support-groups. Otherwise there is little of what is traditionally thought of as therapies for adults. We Autistic adults have to help each other and not expect outside help for now.
