I do! I live alone (and L O V E it) and yes, I talk to myself.

I usually talk to myself in the plural like, "What are we going to do today?"

I am my best friend. I love being by myself and never tire from my own company.

I guess that's an Aspie trait!

Addendum: I was just talking to myself, wondering whether I'd had enough to eat or not tonight and said, "No, I haven't had enough so I might have that soup!"

I don't know what situations dictate whether I should refer to myself in the first person or not but to give a tinker's cuss, I don't really care. I'm happy the way I am and so be it!

I have whole dissertations with myself. Sometimes, I even answer back.

I don't talk to myself in the way you described that you do. In my case it's generally just muttering mental notes or rhetorical questions to myself.

i think in pictures as well as in words as well as in some other way that is indescribable, but i rarely talk to myself in a way that i feel i am conversing with myself.

first i think in the indescribable way, and that formulates a picture which i translate into words, and i run those words by myself to see if they would make sense to a listener, and if i feel they would not make sense to a listener, i refine them until i feel they would make sense to a listener, and if i can never achieve the translation of the product of the indescribable thought pattern through convenient perception, i will retire from my attempt to do so.

so i sort of do talk to myself, but not to inform myself of something (which would imply a schism of cognizance), but to test the "deliverability" of my concepts to another mind.

i enjoy verbalizing (in a way that i find satisfactory) the details of my thoughts which emanate from indescribable inceptions.

i wonder if mute people who would other wise have spoken to themselves if they were not mute, instead show themselves mental pictures (different from my conceptual pictures) that they hope one day they can be able to recreate for public demonstration?

i wonder if deaf people talk to themselves in sign language (that was a joke).

This is pretty much what I do, too.

I even sometimes argue with myself. Not often.

Quite readily, yes. Sometimes it's just half-formed thoughts that escape without much intention, other times it's a whole debate with myself. Vocalizing thoughts can ge a great tool to clear up ones own reasoning.

I do this sometimes.

But then it goes a bit further also, and I end up also talking to inanimate objects. I absolutely will do things like stand there and angrily lecture at the digital clock in my room because it randomly slid off of the table and onto the floor for the billionth time. Or I might argue with a variety of electronics. Or tell the door that it's being too squeaky when opened/closed.

I really try to only do this stuff when alone. Probably makes me seem a tad insane to anyone that sees me do it.

Sometimes I think out loud.
"Where did I put this? OK. Here it is."
"Why the hell did I do that?! Look what you are doing. Silly."

But more often than to myself I talk to my cats, house electronics and bugs like flies or mosquitoes:
"Get out of my room! No? It's your choice. You think you are so smart?<clap>I got you. Now you are dead."

I also tend to roleplay, practice social scripts out loud if I am home alone.
I can do whole two side dialogues including body language this way.

IMO thinking out loud is common especially for women. NT or otherwise. My mom does it, my grandma, female teachers, neighbors etc.

Nowadays I don't really talk to myself like to another person but I'll make comments while alone or narrate myself (verbally or only in my thoughts) occasionally.
I think if I lived on my own or were in a room where I could be sure nobody can hear me I'd do it a lot more.
Another factor that inhibits talking to myself is that I'm listening to music all the time.

I mostly just think out loud sometimes, I might try to assign certain viewpoints to certain aspects of myself sometimes, but I've had an actual conversation with myself. That would be impossible for anyone unless maybe they have multiple personality disorder.

sometimes when i am in an internal diatribe, i realize it is futile to think any further, but i always must have the last word, and considering it is me that i am talking to, that becomes impossible (cyclic redundancy)

I often talk to myself and live alone as well. I love that I can just walk around my house, say whatever I want and there is no one there to judge.
