I recently started going to therapy for depression/loneliness/anxiety. I've had one session so far and have another one scheduled in 2 weeks. How long will it take until I start seeing results? I've never done anything like this before so I have no idea.

Also, is there anything else that I should know for better preparation for this?

It varies from person to person. As for preparation, write down some things you'd like to talk about and work on in therapy. Here's a link that could help. I hope it goes well for you.

My reply is 100% cynical....

Until you're out of money.

I've met very few effective therapists who consider your financial means when trying to "help" you.

Till you give up.

Well. There is always a chance it might work for you but from my experience no therapy helps more than my own decision "I have to figure out what I can do to feel better" and coming to my own conclusions.

Therapists can't really help me because they don't understand me. They only try to make me think they understand me but they never give me any suitable advice.

All they say "And how do you feel of it?" and pretend they listen. As if naming my feelings could fix my situation. I want real tips.

There is no telling, but assume it'll take the better part of a year, at least.

Also, i hope you will get more regular appointments soon, one every other week is a bit low, especially for clinical depression, that one can get nasty and dangerous fast.

My college has Therepy session for free for students so I'm not paying a dime for it.

For some people, it lasts a lifetime.

There are people who believe in "therapy" even when there's nothing wrong with them.

I was sectioned for six months. We did group therapy and occupational therapy every day. It worked quite well because at that time they didn't know about autism. I was at the best place in England - Wroughton NPC. I left and started my own business soon after.

Therapy did not work for me at all. Waste of time and money.
