Anyoe else stuck at a certain age?

I am stuck at like 15. No matter what I do or who I out myself into contact with, it's 15 if I am lucky. Usually like 11.

I remeber when my nephew "outgrew" me. I was 20 when he was born. But I was really like 11. So he grows up and is 11 and we had all the fun! Then he got to be 12...13...14.......20. I watched him wizz past me.

It's hard to be at family functions. I try to mimick older people but alway end up gigling or being way too dramatic and excited.....boom- they know I am weird.

ANyone else?

Yes, I've watched nieces and nephews grow up, get Master's degrees, get married and have kids and achieve a certain gravitas while I'm like the perennial college kid. I'm not perky though. Never have been.

yeah me to, im about 11, but somtimes its 50 or 60, i think its called mental age

Mental age is more like mental retardation. There is social retardation, emotional retardation, and of course mental retardation. Maybe there should be such thing as interest retardation meaning interests below the age level or is that with social skills?

mine is 17. I have never got over being 17. I watch others grow up and get married and have children, some have grandchildren and even one person I knew my age has great grandchildren. Not me.(oh, I have been married several times,) but . .I am 17 in a 58 year old's body.

I wish I still had the link, but I read an excellent article from some psycho or psychic about how people with AS are children [of various ages] in adult bodies (if they're chronologically an adult of course), and it'd help if people saw them this way (so as to be "protected" and not taken advantage of, as well as giving people a reason why their 30 years old son or daughter still lives at home).

I'm about 6 emotionally with a 28 years old body; socially, I'm probably under the age of one, just with the speech of an adult (my niece is far better than me socially and she's one). Albeit, some portions of my mind are the same age as my body, and they're what I use to survive (logic).

I don't know what mine is. I am not married and don't have kids by choice, and I tend to be unattractive to women, so I will probably never have kids. I live with my parents because rent is too expensive for somebody on SSI, I lived by myself from 18 to 23 then when rent soared I lived in a trailer behind my grandfather's house, then when he went into a home I moved back home.

I see myself as younger than 10 years old. When I leave the house I go places and people my age have jobs, sometimes even 2 jobs already. They only have 2 years of highschool left. I don't feel like that at all. I still feel <10. I can't even attend a full day of school. I think Preschools and Kindergartners only attend half days of school, which is a sad comparison. :(

I don't feel like I've ever grown up. I just feel more informed/aware than I was when I was younger. Emotionally I'm the same. I don't get why anyone would want to get married and have a family. I don't get why anyone would want to have a boring career that pays well. I live life to find things to stimulate my mind and senses, to create, to avoid boredom. Nothing else really matters that much to me.

I'm not stuck at any age. I'm delayed in a lot of areas, sure, but I keep advancing in those areas, slowly-but-surely. If you know anybody with global developmental delay, you can observe that same thing, long term: At four, they might be doing a lot of things as well as a two year old does; but when they're twenty, they're not still doing those things as well as a two year old, but maybe as well as a twelve year old or so. This is why it's called "delay" and not "developmental arrest" or something of that sort.

Delay means backward compared to your peers at the time. Even though it's pervasive, ASDs don't affect all areas of ability, so many areas will be the same as your age-matched peers and advance at the normal rate, especially if you have AS (not as many areas affected in the brain).

If you have a delay of speech, but catch up to your age-matched peers when you're seven or so, you can say that this symptom is then resolved as long as it continues that way (this person effectively now has AS).

Most symptoms won't catch up, well, that's what they say, and it seems to be this way (they can improve, of course, and improvements tend to be universal with age, but they're still delayed compared to peers).

I'm 23 right now so I'm starting to realize that this is a problem and it's not going away. XD;;;;;
Kind of sucks.
Happily, I've been able to find a lot of immature friends.
But with most people.. yeah. Those stupid family gatherings. I'm like "wait, I sit at the big table now?"

Yes. It seems like I am stuck in a certain position of development that I am static.

I am stuck somewhere in my teens...not exactly sure where...and it does fluctuate.

I feel more split down the middle. In some ways, I'm more immature than I should be, and in other ways I'm more so. But perhaps that's just a regular teenage feeling.
