I'm bored of life. I've saved up some money so please recommend me a great holiday destination. I live in the UK and have travelled to Boston, Massachusetts as well as Paris, Scotland, Wales, all over England and Dublin in Ireland.

I have no friends. I'm a good and diverse home cook. So I like food a lot. Anywhere with new food experiences would be awesome.

Why don't you try Madrid, Spain?

Or Rome, Italy.

Or New Orleans, Louisiana, United States.

All are known for their food.

New Orleans could be really good. Po Boys and fried shrimp. Do you have any foods you really like in NYC? That looks like it could be great too. I've never tried a Reuben sandwich.

Depends on your anxiety levels around people. If you're really adventurous, try Hong Kong. Even a trip across the bay to Shekou. If you're a foodie, and if you love Chinese food, these are great places.

China is hyper crowded and that means a lot of jostling. Hong Kong too.

Austin, Texas.

Have some BBQ at Franklins. Bon Appetite declared Franklin's the best BBQ in America.

Plenty of great Tex-Mex cuisine in Austin as well. It's a foodie town for sure. Gourmet food trucks roam the city daily.

There's also a lot of great wine that comes out of the nearby Texas Hill Country.

Grab some breakfast tacos at Torchy's!

Hong Kong looks amazing.

Austin's BBQ does too. I would so like to try some beans and smoked meat. I've never had that.

I might toss a coin!

If you do go to Hong Kong, make sure to go to Shekou on a day trip. They have ferries that run back and forth. Check out what they call "Sea World". That area is filled with everything from fast food (McDonald's and KFC are huge there) to the best hole in the wall type of eateries to high end restaurants. All within a 15 minute walk from the ferry landing. They even have a hotel that is an actual converted ship, the "Ming Hua", now the Cruise Inn.

Can't go wrong there either. BBQ all the way from Texas east to the ocean and up into the Carolinas and lower Virgina.

Reuben sandwiches are good.

You could go to the Stage Deli to get overstuffed corned beef/pastrami sandwiches on rye bread.

You could go into any pizza place and and get a delicious chicken parmigiana hero (submarine sandwich). A hero is a submarine sandwich in NYC.

When you go into a restaurant, never ask for the "toilet." Ask for the "rest room" or "bathroom."

NYC has restaurants of any ethnicity possible.

Depending on how puckish I am, I will ask for the "Boom Boom Room" or "Little Boys" Room. Otherwise it's men's room for me.

Yes, but be careful. There are a lot of places though that really serve only the 'tourist' version of food. And, forget about BBQ here.

I am a BBQ snob. I admit it.

This thread is making me hungry.

One year for a cheap vacation, my daughter and I flew to San Antonio, Texas. Fabulous food - very cheap - and some nice sight-seeing, in particular I remember glass art in the public library and of course, the Alamo. There was also a nice botanical garden with an art gallery that had, of all things, both some Diego Rivera and some Andy Warhol. :)

If you go out to Jackson Heights, Queens, you'll get authentic versions of South American food.

If you're invited to someone's home in Queens or Brooklyn, and the person is from the Caribbean islands, you'll get a very authentic version of Caribbean cuisine. There's some similarities to Southern American cuisine.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I feel good thinking about all this food. :)

Are you referring to people including, but not limited to, your wife?

I meant people from the Caribbean in general.
