I'd only use something that heats my head if I were living in a cold area.

I don't know if it would ease the symptoms of autism, but if it were cold then it would certainly make me feel more comfortable. ;)

When you're outside in the cold most of your body heat gets radiated out via your head. So covering your head is a good idea when outdoors in the winter.

But- aside from that- would putting an electric heating pad on your head while your indoors cause you to become less autistic in some way?

I can't imagine how that could be true.

Not even sure what "easing autism" means. Would having a warmer head cause you to have better people skills?

If it feels good to you, and is calming, then there's your answer. :D

I have found that putting pressure on the front of my skull calms my brain, and that's why I can only sleep with my face mashed into my pillow. So it could be that a bit of pressure on your head feels good to you too.

Also if you're cold, a hat will warm you and relax your muscles (so you don't have to shiver and be tense, which sometimes we aren't aware of) - so that makes sense too!

Not when I have a migraine ... pass me an ice pack instead.
That said, your idea might have some merit
when I'm outside in a snowstorm doing landscape photography.

I am the opposite. I have to have a cold head. Especially when I sleep at night. In the winter time. I turn the heat off and I let my bedroom freeze and pile on the layers. That way. My body stays warm and my head can freeze.

I've read somewhere that this isn't true. Not considering hair, your head radiates heat proportional to it's surface area/volume.

What makes heat radiating from your head and face more noticeable than say, your back is that the head and face have a large representation in the cortical sensory homunculus.

I feel better when my head is cool and my body is warm. When my head is hot I feel more stressed and overwhelmed.
