So lets say I meet a girl that I can relate with well enough to be my life partner. We get a 1 bedroom apartment even though I work as a psychologist and make about 70 thousand dollars a year. I put my left over money in a savings account so I can get additional revenue off that. So the apartment is satisfying enough to both of us and we are setting a great amount of extra money through the savings account since my job would give me more than I need for the apartment.

So does that sound like a good plan? What problems do you see with it? I am 15 years old so this is all hyppothetical mind you. Also I would like to be able to live forever or if the technology isn't there in my lifetime I will just get frozen until it is so I will need money for that hence the extra money and extra money so getting food and stuff isn't a problamo.

If you are in parts of Manhattan, NYC, you would spend all your money on that one-bedroom apartment!

In truth, as you get older, you will make more friends, and you will want to have kids. A one-bedroom apartment definitely wouldn't be enough if you wanted to have kids. Or if you wanted friends to stay over at your home.

brandon if you are 15 why does it show your age as 25?

You won't get much income off a savings account; instead, learn to invest.

Don't be a psychologist, there are too many of them already and the barrier to entry is pretty high. There are a number of other interesting careers that take much less education and pay as well or better.

Sounds like a nice life. Unfortunately life has a way of disrupting the best laid plans. I also thought of kids. What if you or your life partner one day decides they want kids? It's good to make plans but at the end of the day you've just got to roll with what life throws at you.

I don't really feel like kids would happen. Though I guess it is definitely possible. I would imagine if she is like me we would both be ridiculously anxious of f*****g the kid up or something.

It is a nice plan, but a bit unrealistic, sadly, most of the flaws are already mentioned.

If you want to make big bucks (without becoming a manager for a multinational, which is nearly inpossible), go into engineering or IT programming; those career paths are aways in demand and therefore offer a good salary

I like your plan and I love that you have a plan. What kind of psychologist will you be? I am guessing clinical? Start with the one bedroom apartment, if needs change then you can sell that and trade up. I became a psychologist and ended up with a three bedroom place while my children were growing up, then downsized later. It wasn't all plain sailing (life rarely is) and yet if you stay true to your goal and think about it constantly and prepare to succeed, you can do it, and I like that you have thought ahead on a ten year plan. All the best to you, I hope you will make your dream turn into your reality. It starts with a vision and a plan.

Each person's life is determined by himself. Although a lot of people live successfully, but after all we can learn from the other people's way of life, and can not copy, otherwise life will become meaningless.
