In my view/opinion Social anxiety and Aspergers are very similar things. You have social anxiety, introverted, shy, quiet, fear being in crowds and avoid social situations. Also sounds a lot like Aspergers Syndrome that is a mild for of Autism.

Anyway are Aspergers syndrome and Social anxiety very similar things? Can someone please explain the differences between the two disorders.

What medications would people recommend to treat Social Anxiety and Asperger's syndrome?

It's possible to have both or just one. But this diagram was posted before:

People with AS don't necessarily have anxiety problems, and in particular don't necessarily have social anxiety. Impaired social interaction could include someone who is socially confident, but makes many mistakes because they always misread the situations they are in.

A person with social anxiety alone fails the diagnostic criteria for AS because they do not have the "three Rs" - rigid routines, restricted interests, and/or repetitive behaviours" - e.g. special interests, stimming, and inability to cope with sudden changes to plans.

So they are different conditions. But it is common for Aspies to have social anxiety.

I'm taking Namenda for Asperger's. I've been taking it since January, and once my dose increased, I started feeling different. It's a lot easier for me to just walk up to someone I work with and say something and not feel weird about it and worry that I said the wrong thing.

I actually saw my shrink today and told her that, and she said that it was great and it meant that it was working.

I have everything combined on that diagram. Having both aspergers and SA sucks majorly. I can literally put together those statements and it describes me. Trying to untangle which is cause of the aspergers and the SA is hard. They've gotten so intertwined.

No I don't

Social inclination and social ability are two different things.

shy,

No I'm not.

Social inclination and social ability are two different things.

And there's a difference between not talking because you're afraid of what people will think and not talking because you can't put words together, or get them out, or you have nothing to say.

fear being in crowds

They hurt. They make my visual processing and proprioceptive sense shut down. Things that hurt make me just slightly nervous.

I do not fear being judged by the people in them.

and avoid social situations

Again, not fear. Avoiding that which is difficult and tedious is logical.

I don't like it when people dismiss my disability as essentially a matter of cowardice.
