Is telling friends and work I'm an aspie worth it?
Hi Newbie here but been diagnosed with Aspergers / ADD 3 years ago.
I am thinking about being open about having autism at work and with friends. I feel like I'm hiding something. I reckon my friends have already had a discussion about me being odd so they wouldn't be surprised.
At work I am seen as odd but I get away with it because I am very good at what I do. So in terms of it hindering opportunities I don't think it would cause problems- worst case some people may walk on eggshells because of the who hypersensitivity to disabilities thing.
I'm interested in hearing others' experiences in this area because if I take the plunge, there's no turning back no matter how it works out. How did it feel to do it? Was it worth it?

Dont tell them. They probably wont like you anymore if they find out that your different.the reality is that you have to fit in to be accepted, because people will exclude/judge you if you're different in some way. by telling people that you have asd you are confirming that you are different and you might as well hold up a sign that says "I am inferior to you because i have a diagnosis, hurt, ridicule and exclude me because im defective (unfortunately people that are seen as different are cast out of society). I think that telling your friends about it will make them understand you even less (because of stereotypes associated with autism etc).
