In Australia where I live it is illegal to sack someone on the basis of discrimination I am very open in regards to my AS when applying for jobs. Unfortunately for other reasons I find it tough to hold down a job on a regular basis but will be hopefully doing some gardening for people in the future.

Ditto, good luck and keep trying :)

On a side note, one of the aspects I like about Australia is its discrimination policy.

In the US you may be fired for not being able to handle / complete your job duties. These job duties are to be defined before you are hired. If you are able to do your job as it was described to you, then you may have a case for discrimination. If you cannot perform your job function as described to you, or misrepresented your ability to do so when hired, you may be terminated - even if your AS is the primary reason you can't perform your job. I have a fair amount of experience here, actually from the side of the employer, where I have had many employees with developmental or physical disadvantages.

I realize this may not be a great help coming from the other side of the Wrong Planet, but assume Aussie law is at least similar.

yes - this is true. i was a manager for a while and that's exactly how it was. If you cannot perform the functions of the job or work up to the standards, you're fired and it doesn't matter one iota what disabilities you may or may not have, so the discrimination law only works in theory rather than in reality. And most employers now have everyone sign a paper when first employed stating they are "at will" employees and can be let go at anytime so there will be no legal recourse if fired or let go.
