Did you actually mean to ask, "Why are NTs so ignorant?"

If so, then maybe it's because no one has taught them what they need to know.

I think they're ignorant because a lot of autistic symptoms sound normal when they hear them described. It's kind of when people who are not poor say they're starving. They're way hungrier than they normally are, but they're nowhere near actually starving. They have no idea what it's like to be starving. I notice the same thing with executive dysfunction. When it's described it sounds like laziness and poor self control. They say it's normal not to want to go to work, study or clean your room. Their brain is still capable of bypassing those feelings and still doing things they don't want. When you have executive dysfunction it's nearly impossible to do that. They think executive dysfunction is not wanting to do something. That's understandable because even regular people run out of willpower.

I know that it sometimes feels like the entire NT community hates autistic people, but that's not how it is. Not all NTs are like that. It is unfortunately human nature to hate all things that are different. It's a primal fear hardwired into all humans. Ableism, racism, and homophobia are too easy. Accepting each other is a very hard thing for people to do.

I find that people are incredibly ignorant. I know I was until recently. Most people don't find out about things unless it impacts them. And if anybody asked I could only tell them my experiences. And mine are different from everybody else's at the degtail level and some overlaps on the major levels.

But, when I have tried to explain, it's still a mystery to them. If you try to tell them how the sun glare affects you, they have all said things like they have to squint too. They ignore that it makes me sleepy and sometimes I sneeze because it makes my sinuses run.

Then they say I'm sneezing because of allergies or some other nonsense.

I don't think it's meanness. I think for the most part it's cluelessness.
