Uncanny valley is characterised as a feeling of revulsion and uneasiness when one encounters a computer generated image/machine that closely resembles a human being. I am experiencing this uneasiness with people's faces. To clarify it has nothing to do with the aesthetics of their faces and it's not to do with me finding them ugly or attractive, it's just to the human face looks strange to me for some unknown reason. The more I stare at a face, the more unnerved I become. As of late, I have also been struggling to recognise faces... I am not sure if it's connected or anything. What could this possibly be? I don't like feeling anxious for no reason..

I think the 'uncanny valley' has more to do how other people would perceive you. You are normal enough that the odd things really stand out on a subliminal level that is not understood by others. That 'what is wrong with him/her? He/She seemed so normal.'

Not sure if it has to do with how you perceive others.

That's strange - generally I am the one who's strange! XD I guess it's that phenomenon that I get when I see certain colours or patterns, I get unnerved when they seem "wrong". But people's faces don't seem wrong in the slightest, it just looks... Strange. I don't know how to describe it.

Don't know about the first part, but face blindness is somewhat common in autism. I have it.

i have that too, sometimes.
indeed, the "uncanny valley" occurs when something is 'darn close to a natural normal thing, but not quite', usually applied to faces but it can be anything.

Indeed, some pure human faces, especially those of actors that are deemed "very attractive" by "the people", trigger this feeling for me, their faces just aren't quite the way i'd expect a human to look.

For me, it's my behaviour. I seem normal at most situations, but off enough that it unsettles people. Especially when it's a social situation and I get lost, frustrated or overloaded. And, the more overloaded I get, the worse I get on holding onto my mask.
