Wow......well, it's out now.They made a connection(I hate this channel but my boyfriend watches it when CNN is in reruns mode).

Heraldo(does he ever get anything right),made the jump that Cho had AS.(I want to see the documents that support this DX.The Alex came on and talked about an old memeber of WP that was involved in a murder/suicide.No explaination was given about what As is or if this individual had any "other" DX for mental health issues.

That idiot goes on about Aspies being serial killers all the time.
It's like he's got a personal vendetta.

I wouldn't be too worried about anything Geraldo goes on about. So far, it's only on his show, and considering the biggest 'lure' on his show is underage cheerleaders' skirts, (Oh, the horror! Let's see some close-ups!) I don't think we aspies have much to fear from his viewers.

He also broke into that vault that had nothing in it! LOL Empty, probably like his theory.

Faux Noise channel can have him!

Yes, I do sometimes wonder if they poke their noses in here to see what the census is among the Aspergers communities on such things...same goes with the professionals...do you ever wonder if those seeking to diagnose and specialise in ASDs ever come to forums like Wp to get more input?

He sure likes talking about how skimpy cheerleader uniforms are, I presume, and if you catch my drift.

I am only responding to this because Krex started it.

Many of you here may not know that this is a piece of history on this board that is somewhat relevant to the topic of the day.

I don't remember exactly when, but I think it was in the fall of 2005, there was a member of WP who killed a neighbor and then killed himself.

I seem to remember that one of the outcomes of that incident was that WP membership soared.

Hmm...is this a marketing ploy?
And who really trusts Geraldo, anyway?

This guy was clearly psychotic. Geraldo's just an unscrupulous sensationalist out on a witch hunt to further his own goals.

Well, Geraldo IS an idiot, but the left and some minorities LOVE him. If I didn't have some aspects that are related to AS, I probably would have KILLED someone. I did come CLOSE a couple times(though I intentionally never did go far enough, and they DID deserve worse). The WORST anyone ever got was a broken wrist, and some pain. They attacked me without provocation. I, on the other hand, was persecuted, ridiculed, mocked, called names, got at least 2 black eyes, was successfully kicked in the groin twice. Unsuccessfully perhaps another 3+ times. ONCE, in a DRAFTING class, a guy tried to hit my groin with his Tsquare. They EVEN called attention to my not reacting.(As if to question if I was even male!) The fact is that he was about 3-4 inches above my groin, and hit me in one of the LEAST sensitive areas on my body! I even had my head shoved into the lockers once by THREE kids. On another occasion, three OTHER kids that were twice my size(LITERALLY!) threatened to break my back if I didn't pay them. I DIDN'T, and luckily they backed down! I was even SPANKED, in a school that had such punishment, SEVEN times for things I had NOTHING to do with!

The fact is that I was/am a pacifist, and only fought about 13 times, but was probably attacked over 50!

Admittedly, they MIGHT have done that because of aspects related to AS, but that doesn't matter. I was NICE, SMART, KIND, GENEROUS ETC.... I'll never understand why people weren't kinder, etc.... I have actually tried to reason it out. TO THIS DAY I often relive things several times, analyzing every little word and movement. I have even done it DECADES after the fact.

It's probably much worse than that, but then I'm a self proclaimed conspiracy theorist.

All I can say about Geraldo is that I hope all the news media outlts have long since since discounted him as a serious, viable personality in the field.

Aspies are bound to become the subject of a few news media witch hunts eventually. Everyone comes under that greatly lit microscope at some point or other. Maybe now is our time and it will come and go. And the news media will get it out of their system and go back to blaming video games and music with explicit lyrics.

Right, but video games and music are easy to defend because people CHOOSE to buy them, and can CHOOSE to not watch or listen or buy. We have no choice on our disorder, and society won't care that we are just in need of a little understanding. That rat-bastard vilified us.

I hope you're right. It's a little scary to think that people who may not know anything or very much about autism/AS may be hearing about it for the first time in this light. I didn't see the Geraldo show, but is he saying the autism caused Cho to murder?

It's really troubling that people, who naturally want to know what caused someone to do such a horrible thing, will hear he was autistic and then stop there "Oh yeah, that's what was wrong with him, that's what caused it, his autism" and then not listen to any more clues that might come to light about what **else** might have been the cause, such as mental illnesses, abuse, etc. Then these people will think Aspies/auties are potential killers. People don't really have the time to follow all the possible reasons and causes for things--they hear about this and see it on the news for awhile, but unless they were affected personally by it they might not pay as much attention after awhile--if they hear Cho was AS, that'll explain the matter to them unless they know something about AS or know some Aspies or are Aspie themselves.
