Forgot to mention: I once worked on a database back end system to check names against the OFAC (ie terrorist) list. In researching it, we learned that in many Arabic & Islamic cultures, at least among men, their names change throughout their lives to reflect milestones or major life events. That was my Western interpretation, anyway, if anyone knows better please correct me. Anyway, I've heard of other cultures that do something similar and I find it appealing in some way. Given the way in most Western cultures, women are already often expected to change their names, kids names change due to divorce of their parents, etc., so any tracking/storing of names should already be set up to allow for limitless name changes so apart from clerical costs people should feel free to change them on a whim!
