Just that term coming out of my mouth. Makes us sound weak and putrid. I prefer the term, spectrumite. We are spectrumites!! Makes us sound a little bit like a force to be reckoned with.

Spectrumite covers all people on the Spectrum; whereas Aspie only covers people with Asperger's or who think of themselves as being Aspergian.

I used to think "Aspie" was too cutesy and cloying. I didn't like to use it. Posting here more and more, I got used to the term, and I've even started using it myself in posts here. One reason is because it's so quick and easy to type or even to say out loud. Asperger's is a bit more of a chore to type than aspie. It's just easier. I started out thinking "Blugh" but now I'm at home with it as the easier nickname to use for the condition.

'Spectrumite' makes me feel like some kind of lab specimen, I don't know why :P

Aspie is sort of the diminutive term for one with Asperger's.

I know some people don't care for the term Aspergian--but I have a tendency to use it, in preference to Aspie, though I wholeheartedly respond to either.

I also think Aspie is too cute. I prefer Aspergian, it just sounds more dignified to me. Kind of like Bavarian, Hungarian, Canadian, ect.

"Spectrumite" sounds like a mineral ore or fiction race of fairies. I never really had a problem with "Aspie", I mean sure it's kind of cutsy, but I think it works. :D

I prefer Autistic...it is factual, everyone knows the term, and it sounds like Artistic(with a good imagination    )

The person could also say "I'm an Autist." though the gen. public would not 'get it'

I would never use Aspie because very few would know what I mean irl.

Ok, how about this. We are not Aspies. We are Asps.

An Asp is a snake.
Asperger's sounds too much like ass burgers so I don't like it.
To me Aspie is acceptable enough.

Exactly!!

The snake is dangerous to most people. But it is also respected. I don't know about you but I want people to respect me as well as fear me.

I am an artist.
I am eccentric.
I am artistic.

"Aspie" ? I can live with that here on Wrong Planet.

I like "Aspie". I don't, however, like "autie" because it reminds me too much of "outie", like a belly button.
