i just wanna know how u would feel if they all did for a day.

No,because even people with aspergers don't understand other people with asperger's. Imagine if everyone in the world thought everyone thought the same. People get torn to shreds here by other members with aspergers. The best thing for a person with asperger's is a highly empathetic individual that has the theory of mind to imagine their unique position. If everyone had asperger's everyone would expect others to accommodate them. Asperger's need understanding and patience.

It'll probably be awkward since NTs are not used to such... But then, what I'll do is experiment on their reactions. Since I never met a high functioning adults in the spectrum before.

I probably wouldn't notice, unless the media told me about it.

I would lock my family and myself inside our fallout shelter for 72 hours.

Well I hate to harp on this, but having been in private schools for kids with autism and therefore have always surrounded by autistic people my whole life, I doubt I would notice a whole lot of difference.

Not entirely true. Some people with Asperger's don't have as much problem with theory of mind. This aspect is merely one of the many diagnosible criteria. Having Aspergers doesn't gaurantee that you will have impaired ToM. Only that it may be one of your symptoms.

I have heard of some autistic people meeting each other, and being able to understand each other very well. I have this experience with a few people on the spectrum. But I don't relate well to many other people.

Still, like Fnord hinted, the world could be in trouble. What happens when everyone in DC and China gets Aspergers, and they go ultra literal, and there is communication misunderstandings and breakdowns with all the nuclear technology at their fingertips?

Autistic people can still have personality clashes and disagreements which can lead to terrible atrocities. Such is humanity. :|

I hate to say it, but modern civilization would not work properly if everyone were autistic. I can barely function. I would have a lot of trouble living independently unless I only had myself and a small apartment to worry about. I have never once lived on my own. And I'm considered to be very high-functioning.

Here's what would happen:

Lots of people would forget to shower or brush their teeth before work and stink up the office.

Many would be too anxious to go to work for various reasons.

Others would be too absorbed in other activities to even remember to go to work.

Some (like me) would be late for work and forget to bring important documents. Or would oversleep because of insomnia and miss work entirely (also like me).

Others would have no trouble getting to work, but would be extremely difficult to get along with and piss off a bunch of people who, also being autistic, would probably overreact.

Then of course there are all the other responsibilities, like taking care of children or pets.

And the sensory issues would prevent others from doing their jobs, especially those employed in noisy, smelly, or uncomfortable professions.

Autism is a disability for a reason. It causes problems. We need NTs. Some of those with ASD are very high-functioning, but those with ASD are a diverse group. I imagine that if the whole world had ASD, just for a day, then they would be just as diverse and many would not be high-functioning at all. It would be a disaster.

they'd all have meltdowns from the sudden change.

Im nocturnal i dont see people. i would be asleep while everyone else is awake nor do i leave my house. it wouldn't affect me.
I wonder how my dad would feel after experiencing a day in my shoes, same goes for the rest of my family...

I'd rejoice, knowing that certain people in my life could now understand how it feels for me to be under their microscope.

Hmmm , well i would have to say NO ( but a part of my says yes) mainly no, because i wouldnt want anyone else to feel what i have to battle with every day and its something that i have had to deal with all my life, so if a NT was made to feel what i have had a life time dealing with in one shot for one day, i would be hiding! lol, would be too much for them to handle!! ! but the part that says yes is only reflective for them to understand what they are unable to see and nothing more! just for even a few minutes so they get the real idea! and no DonTrump i dont believe that many aspies EXPECT people to accommodate them! they only hope to be understood, Most of us are a very gentle kind, giving, morally just, humanitarian breed! and i have a number of aspie friends and we all click very well! and help each other out all the time especially in times of emotional crisis! and im afraid i do understand my apsie friends! as we tend to all understand each others pains present and past, therefore can relate and discuss without confusion... and we certainly dont think the same! and these forums are some of the nicest logical individuals i have come across! Any other forum i have been to there is a certain level of ""Trolling"" going on, but the only ones that tend to trol here... are , well.... none aspien/autistic trolls..Sometimes people do get emotional and let loose a little so to speak, but thats expected if you ""Naturally Understand"" those on the spectrum lol... We are highly empathic and do have theory of mind! almost everything you mentioned was None Aspien! :? The only thing i see you were close to the mark on is yes, people on the spectrum would like understanding and patience!

I doubt one day would be long enough for NTs to grasp what it means to have autism.
