Hello.
My doctor is a bad doctor. He writes me a note saying i have AS and then says i dont have it and now says i have PDD-NOS. He uses AS and PDD-NOS interchangeably.
But either way i have PDD-NOS (that looks like mild AS).

Under the current documentation, AS is no longer an official designation. also, it is possible that your doctor changed his mind about the diagnosis as some point.

If you really think that your doctor is messing up, ask for a 'second opinion', where a different, non-related doctor will provide his own diagnosis, without knowing what your own doctor stated beforehand

In Europe we still use icd 10 *so* it actually still is a diagnosis

It is also still used in the United States since it's used as a tool by insurance companies.

Similar in the UK - there's the beginnings of a move to the newer classifications, but it is far from complete. On my evaluation report it describes my diagnosis in both forms - "ASD, moderate, no language delay, no intellectual impairment", and also, "Asperger's Syndrome".

That's something I'd like to see used actually more frequently. I kind of like the idea of ASD being used to describe and define Autism at large, then a secondary note along with it of what "variation" of Autism they exhibit if that makes sense.
