my mom said if im happy i may get overly happy or pretty much any emotion.

what exactly does this mean?


like are my emotions stronger or something?


who can relate?

Maybe you feel things more intensely than some other people.

My emotions get like that too. I can get over excited, overly sad, overly angry, etc. easily.

I'm hypersensitive to a lot of things, so that would explain it in my case. It's different for everyone on the spectrum.

Emotions are, in part, a sense like vision or sound. They originate in the body, but they're still then processed by the body. Lots of people on the spectrum have issues with filtering stimuli properly, and emotions are a stimuli. So probably in a similar way as bright light might bother one person on the spectrum, emotions might bother another. That's my theory, seems very sound to me though.

I am not diagnosed ASD but yes, I can very much relate to overly strong emotions sometimes but not always.
